Title: Weighted Swimbait Hook Mold Pin Holes
Post by: 3GT on 01/13/22 17:16 UTC
Hi All,

Sorry if I posted this in the wrong section I'm brand new and this is my first post.  Can someone please let me know why when pouring these hooks I'm getting pinholes. Clean lead warm molds using a Lee Pro 4-20 pot and SMB-4-MTD mold. My first attempt was with football swing jigs ran 100 without any issue. Thanks in advance for any ideas..... This and baits what an addiction !!

Pour faster, hotter and smoke the mold. Or spray with drop out graphite. Heat the hooks too.

Welcome to the Do-It forums 3GT.

Try heating the hooks before laying them in the heated mold. Also, try pouring the lead at a higher temperature. Be sure your lead is pure lead too. Wheel weight lead can cause issues in some molds.
