First signs that spring is just around the corner. The spring peepers (frogs) are singing up a storm this evening here in the lower elevations of WV. Music to my ears. The shot of rain we got and mild temperatures woke them up.

Our first sign of spring came yesterday (70 degrees) and the wife's bulbed flowers bloomed. Today our high temp occurred at 11 am (28 degrees) and we were outside covering them up.

We aren’t seeing it yet. We have winter storm warnings with freezing rain, sleet and snow on the way. I’ve hauled in a bunch of wood and moved the generator next to the house in case it is needed.

I saw four swans heading north on Sunday, even though pool 9 (on the Upper Miss) is still 99% iced over... I'm really looking forward to lip-jacking some walleyes when the river finally allows a boat to float.

The eagles are on eggs now as are the owls and the Downy Woodpeckers are showing courtship stuff. Still low single digits for temps here yet. We had freezing rain, sleet, snow... the whole monty the other day. Ice on roads and sidewalks about 3/8" and still ice in many areas. More snow tonight they say. We've had more below zero nights here this winter than we've had for the last four winters combined. We don't have a huge amount of snow on the ground and the frost line is going straight down, was at 40" the last I heard from a buddy who side-lines as a grave digger. In general this winter sucks and I can't wait for some double digit weather so I can wear short sleeves again.

We just had old man winter visit us again in the south. Freezing Rain, sleet where I live. I’m ready for winter to lose its grip. The only issue with that is high 90’s and 100% humidity will be close behind.
