Title: Had to happen....
Post by: ctom on 05/20/22 13:35 UTC
When asked what my favorite color of bait is I simply say, "anything with a chartreuse tail". At least for crappies and walleye/sauger that holds true. Most recently I've shown pics of some sunfish and perch baits done with the 2-1/4" fry mold. Except for some done with a chartreuse tail on a junebug body I haven't done any on the more provocative baits.... like the sunfish and perch. Well, that's changed now. Here are a couple from the 2-1/4" Fry mold with a chartreuse tail AND the sunfish body.

While fishing on Tuesday I had a person ask, not what my pet color is, but rather, "where did I get those baits?" I told him I make them.  He looked at me like I was trying get one over on him and he said, "ya, right" and walked off like he was po'd. Oh for the beauty of having baits that nobody else within 200 miles of me has.  lol

We got on sunfish yesterday and one of these plastics hanging in the chops of one of the better colored fish looked amazingly like the fish. The chartreuse tail was down the throat of the fish with the hook just in the lip. I was getting ready to take a picture when the fish flipped, and the hook pulled. Man, the two looked eerily alike.
