Merry Christmas to the Do-It tackle crafting family. Everyone stay safe and enjoy.

Merry Christmas all....

Merry Christmas everyone! Stay safe over the holiday.
I think even Do-It headquarters is under a blizzard warning for tonight and tomorrow all day, maybe even into Saturday morning. Right now we here in Rochester are at -14 degrees with a 20mph wind with windchill at -39 degrees. Going to be worse tomorrow. Our high today was at -6 for about a half hour, then back down. The news just said this storm covers an area over 800 miles from top to bottom.... lots of severe cold going to effect a lot of people. Just stay safe and stay home if you don't have to travel. What we are getting right now is headed straight east, so Lamar you best put your longies in the oven, you're going to need them.

Oh we're getting it big time this morning. High winds up to 60 MPH. I got the fireplace going and a few bottles of booze. Told the wife we should be thankful we're not in our 20's anymore. We'd be expecting triplets come September. :P
But all is good at Lamar's house. Mere Christmas everyone.

-5 here with -25 wind chill. Hope everybody is ok.

Hope every one has a safe and merry christmas. I will be huddled around my griddle out in the garage shooting a new mold I got in yesterday. Fun times.

Lamar, got a laugh out of the triplet's remark! The mind never ages!

Merry Christmas everyone. We have had snow and freezing rain and temps in the 20s, which I thought was cold. However, seeing how cold much of the rest of the US is I now feel warm.
Stay warm and safe out there everyone.

I remember the blizzard of 78. We were all going to college and shacking up with our girlfriends. All I'll say is a lot of my friends have kids that turned 43 this year.

Well, Les, ya almost jinxed me bad...
We lost power twice last night, and each of those times my mind began to race thinking "oh boy, what am I going to do to keep us and the pipes from freezing until power is restored". It's no secret that cold temperatures creep into this old farm house faster than anything built in the last half century, but the thought gets especially poignant when a fella is sitting in complete darkness, hearing the wind blowing outside, and knowing the negative double digits would be upon us until after daybreak.
Both times the power went out, it was for less than a minute in duration, and all I had to do is reset the clocks on various appliances throughout the house when it returned... BUT in the moments when the power was not there, it really made me aware of how I/we take such things for granted.
My Christmas wish to all of you is that you take NOTHING for granted, whether it be simple creature comforts, the love of family and friends, or the privilege of living in a nation of great prosperity (despite all the things we don't have that we wished we had). There's a song from about ten years back that has this lyrical message straight to the point; it says: Everyday is Christmas when every day is thanks-giving, I can find the sunshine if I count my blessings. May we all have a good Christmas, each and every day!

Yep we lost power too. Thankfully it was while in bed that it went out & it didn't stay out a long time. Glad you were alright.

Thanks, Lines.
Even though sitting in the darkness two nights ago was enough for me to again count my blessings, it was further impressed upon me today when three firetrucks ran by my house responding to a multi-station call... without question, I would rather have a cold house than no house, but thankfully I didn't have to deal with either of those problems. I've had many of these little "recalibrations" in life, and each time I am reminded of that which I truly DO have... and praising God always accompanies this.

I think we all should "recalibrate".
