I just saw on Facebook that Denny Welch's family is holding a "celebration" in his honor with all the writing in past tense. Apparently he has passed away. What a man. I was blessed to not only get to meet Denny at the 2 Do-It Get-Togethers but was also blessed with being able to visit he and Rosemary at the California home for a week.
Denny was always so laid back and un-assuming here on the forums. What most don't realize was that he had quite the operation out there. Multi-color, pressure injection machines, triplicate and 4"s of most molds he owned.... he had to have had 400 molds. Spray booth where he was set up for liquid and powder spraying. 20-foot worktables. Several lead pots. It was an amazing set up, right in his garage. Of course, they had to park outside but where they lived, they seldom saw any liquid precip. Open the door from the house into the garage and one was instantly in a veritable wonderland.
Denny and I stayed in touch, talking quite often, until about a year ago when he and Rosemary moved in with a daughter when Denny's condition took a downward turn.
Denny, I know you're out there somewhere in the vast tackle-crafting ang fishing wherever, sharing your wisdom and throwing your wit to those who maybe need it. Knowing you was an honor. We'll meet again and we'll trade those secrets and back swatting again. RIP brother.

I can't say I wasn't expecting this at some point but I am terribly saddened nonetheless . RIP Denny you were a true gentleman and a positive influence on so many of us. Deepest regards to family and friends.

Sad news. Thanks for bringing it to our attention, Tom.
Many of us had interacted with Denny over the years. He was a major contributor to this site and a very kind man.
RIP Denny and peace to your family.

God bless the family. I dealt with Denny for awhile in 2014-15 stocking his jigs and baits in my small retail shop. Excellent products.
Sad to hear this news for sure.

Rest in peace Denny. Another great old time bait maker. I still have some of his baits.

Like olsarge said, we all saw this coming,... but DANG, that's a bummer for sure!
Denny and I chatted a few times about our common fishing grounds in central California (going back to my military days). In the back of my mind, I was hoping things would work out to where I could make a trip out there and share a boat with him for a couple of days... no doubt about it, he was a pivotal member of the forum, a good egg, the kind you wish you would never lose.

Thanks, Lines... definitely worth the watch!

Very nice tribute, Lines. RIP Denny W. Hope your catching some big ones.

I hope his family finds peace. I bought baits from Denny many years ago, which help lead me into the soft bait making world. I liked the video Lines, thanks for sharing.

Thanks, Lines... definitely worth the watch!
No doubt.

I didn't put that video together.
Denny & Rosemary have had that for their bait business for several years.
Believe Baits.
Denny used to post a Sunday Sermon on his Believe Baits website. I think when his health started failing is when he stopped doing it.
I would like to take credit, because it's very beautiful and relevant. I only remembered the video and thought it fitting to post it here.
God's surely learning some of Denny's trade secrets now.
