Anyone have this mold? And does this mold use the hinges ? Im not a big fan of hinged molds. And what size jig head and hook size would work best? Would it be good for largemouth and small mouth and the hybrid striped bass? I .mostly fish crappie but Thinking about giving Bass a shot. I know that they offer a sand cast mold but I preferr the cnc version. Thanks guys

I have several of the ripper molds, and they all make great baits. I used a variety of jig head sizes and styles but my favorite is the teardrop with a wire keeper. They work well by themselves or as a trailer. I've caught both largemouth and smallmouth on them. I'll ship you a PM with a question as well.

Yeah I have the 2 inch one really like it. What size tear drop do you run the 3.5 on? I have the tear drop mold Bern thinking about pouring some up soon.

I like between 1/4 and 5/16 on the 3.5" Ripper when jigging the Mississippi River for walleyes. 6 pound mono.

Will try that tom. I'm making regular round heads also just the ball should I do those In a 1/4 also ? I don't know if a 1/8 would be possible? What size hook 3/0? I guess I would like to stay the lightest jig I could go with without sinking and getting snagged up to much. Sorry I'm so used to crappie and catfishing all my life.

i dont run the 3.5 ripper, but have several baits on the same size class, i use a normal ball head for the most part between 1/8 and 1/4 depending on depth and current, usually a 3/16. i did pick up a dart head mold from fat guys fishing to use with some hooks that have a welded on bait keeper, in a 1/8 size, and that looks like it will be great too.

Personally I'd carry a mix of weights and hook sizes so different water related instances can be met. Deeper water and wind might dictate a heavier head. Current might dictate something altogether different. I wouldn't carry ten of every weight/hook conbo but at least three of each. One never knows what can change in an instant and if you can't make the change, you might miss an opportunity.

Yeah good idea Tom think I will pour some up in 1/8 and 1/4 and go from there. I have noticed rivers definitely change I have fished areas that have been deep and a few months later go back and fish the same area and ends up being not quite as deep.
