Title: Past few outings
Post by: Fishermanbt on 07/17/23 22:03 UTC
I have been fortunate enough to have had multiple weekend outings recently. Many a fish has been caught with most being crappies. Still no bigins though. They seem to have progressed from wanting soft plastics, to hair jigs, to most recently jigging spoons. The crappie bite also seems to have moved away from standing timber out deeper to submerged timber and near drop offs.

The freestyle has been my go to jig head in 1/8 oz for plastic or hair jigs.  The spoons purchased I painted or foiled them and cleared with a few dips in CS Seal-Coat.

Bonus fish. In the second picture that 12” bass had a 4”+ fish in it’s throat and still took my jig!

That foiling really makes for a nice bait.

Great report! Thanks for sharing this!

Awesome looking baits & spoons!

IMO, too many people overlook hair jigs & the spoons as the waters warm up.  They only consider them as cold water lures. I'll use just about any lure at any time if I think it might produce.  I just got the two new Do It jig molds to try out.    I plan to tie some hair on the new bullet head jig and see how that might work here for some bass.  ;D

I haven't been fishing in several weeks either, it's been very hot here lately, upper 90's, one of the few bad things about SC in July. I need to get out & give it a try.
