Title: Daiwa Regal LT1000
Post by: Lines on 10/17/23 20:48 UTC
Does anyone here own one of these spinning reels? I broke down and ordered one for crappie and trout. Just curious if anyone has any experience with this reel and what your thoughts are. The reviews are really good.

For what you're using it for that reel should be fine. It's not like you're fishing smallmouth or lake trout where they'll be stripping out on the drag all day. I'm guessing lite line and lite action pole is what you're wanting. The pole does most of the work. I wouldn't be afraid of it.

I have the 2000 lt on a Bnm TCB ultralight rod and it is great.  Easy start up smooth dragetc.  I started off using Presidents and after I bout the regal I replaced all of the presidents.  Think you will like it,

I have a now older Regal, not sure the size, that's perhaps at least 10 years old, and can't say that I've ever had any issues with it.

Although I'm not particularly brand loyal, I have had good service out of various Daiwa spinning reels.

Except for some surf reels I have never really bought high end spinning reels because panfish is what I've primarily used them to catch.

Daiwa reels have done the job and lasted several years, so that's as much as I've expected from them.

Got the reel today. Wow, it is smooth. I had a Lamiglas 5 1/2' ultra light rod carried over from our hunting and fishing store in Iowa that I mounted it on. Sometime this week I'll spool line on it and test it out. Very nice reel, so far I am happy.

Speaking of our store (Lines & Tines) in Drakesville, Iowa, I was a dealer for Lamiglas rods, and have 3 new Lamiglas fly rods left over that I will never use. If anyone has any interest in a very nice flyrod I will post them in the classifieds possibly this weekend. The asking price will be very reasonable. Not a Do-It product, so I hope it would be acceptable.

Feels like an awesome reel olsarge. I like the size. I may get a 2500Lt later down the road for bass.
I have a Pflueger Patriarch, and this Daiwa is smoother than it is. About 1/3 the price too.

I would toss you out of the boat if you fished it that way.

You mean upside down Lamar?  :D
I don't know how that picture transferred that way. Too lazy to fix it now. LOL
I have seen people use them that way though, cranking backwards and all!

Thanks anyfish, I'll try to get pictures and post them tomorrow. No time today. Made salsa with the remainder of the tomatoes we had left.
