Title: Been waiting for five years to hear this
Post by: olsarge on 03/06/24 15:57 UTC: Five years ago my wife was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. The last five years has been a wild roller coaster ride As soon as it was determined to have the Ros 1 variant she was placed on immunotherapy drugs that immediately started working well shrinking some of the tumors and completely eliminating others. The came the bad news. The cancer had crossed the brain barrier and she needed a new drug. The new drug killed all of the cancer cells and except for a few small spots in her lungs she did great. Then 1.5 years later came the news that her medication had stopped working and again several tumors had developed in her brain. She again had to switch medications and again the medication did as it was designed. A few.months later she was hospitalized for a minor stroke and came through that with flying colors. Then today we had a follow up appointment after her latest pet scan. Her oncologist looked her in the eye and calmly said you are NED (acronymn for no evidence of disease). My warrior princess has won! You can only guess how I feel right now and we will forever be wary. I feel both blessed and grateful.
