Anyone else getting a little fed up with it lately?
We went into spring needing rain and managed to get it without the flooding or horrid storms that seem to accompany rain anymore, but I wish we could give it a rest for a few days now. Between this last Tuesday and Thursday we picked up almost three inches with the surrounding area getting even more. Its this "surrounding " area that also is the watershed for the local lake north of here. At 7 this morning the lake was holding steady at two feet above normal pool and in a "no wake" status. Ten minutes ago we got real dark and thunder is rolling and the rain is coming down pretty good again. Not what we need right now.
We fished yesterday morning when the lake was at 1.5 feet over normal pool and it was rising as the morning went on. The higher water brought current with it and the great bite we've been experiencing went south. We did manage to find crappies in a couple areas we never thought we would, and they were very decent fish but the overall catch numbers was way down. If the lake goes up much more we'll have to be getting permission to fish in people's back yards.
For the farmers this rain is good.... as long as their crops are in the ground. We had been in a severe drought area since last summer, but now we're ahead of rainfall for this time of year and no longer listed as "in a drought", so I'd be ok with the rain knocking off for a week. Any of you others getting too wet?

We got some much needed rain starting last night. Not heavy, but a beneficial steady light rain. So far today it has been off and on. The key thing though has been the cloud cover. Our long range forecast shows a chance of rain for the next 2 weeks.
As long as we don’t get a toad strangler storm today, I’m going to try and fish in the rain tomorrow before the thunderstorms show up.

We have had an extremely dry winter and early spring. That all changed earlier this week when a severe storm blew through and dropped 4 inches of rain. Fishing wise everything is a.mess. I went out this morning to a lake that usually stands up to severe weather well but even it was the consistency of chocolate milk. Caught 2 bluegills on a very bright chart micro tube.
