Title: Pike were hungry this morning....
Post by: ctom on 08/05/25 12:23 UTC
They hit the foiled, suspending 3/8 ounce jerkbait done up with a red belly and black back.

We fished a sand/weed flat that tops out at 6 feet with semi-emergent weeds. I managed to put a 39" and a 33" in the net and had two others come un-pinned. One other dandy bit me off.

Never fished it before. Every year driving up to Sioux Lookout we drive around it. I have fished Lake of the Woods several time and would think it fishes about the same. I know it's one of the better smallmouth lakes in the world. So we rented a cabin about mid lake and fish it a week and then head up to Sioux Lookout where we normally go for a week. Then head south and camp along the north end of Lake Superior at the parks and then down through Michigan and home to Ohio. About three weeks. We'll have a boat with us but won't fish a lot on the travel along Lake Superior but the views are some of the prettiest in the world.
