Title: taking care of business....
Post by: ctom on 02/05/26 10:05 UTC
I cleaned off my desk yesterday and found the renewal form for my trademark sitting there, due in less than a month. So I got that off in the mail this morning. Another ten years of fun @ $2.50/year. At my age, I don't imagine I'll be here to see it expire now. But its been a fun ride.

Anyone else here done anything to protect what they make?

I make all my stuff so sloppily nobody in their right mind would try to copy it.

I got the trademark after some idiot tried to hijack my internet moniker "CrappieTom" and some of the tackle I developed.

When I owned my company we took credit cards for auto payments and I had to register my name. When I started in 1982 everybody just respected everyone and nobody worried about it. I retired in 2022 and it wasn't like that anymore. I always sold me and the quality of my work and never said anything bad about the competition. And certainly never copy and work under someone else's name. There's just no pride in that.

Absolutely. And one of my halmarks has always been that if I haven't used it personally, I'm not rendering an opinion, positive or negative.
