Title: Spun me up some shiners
Post by: ctom on 02/24/26 11:50 UTC
Using the Open water Swim head less the fiber guard, 5/16 with a 4/0 hook

Base paint is ProTec's white pearl. The black stripe and smoke are done with the airbrush and black and white Bait Blast airbrush paints. The eyes are Do-It's 2.5 size in Sexy Silver. Final two coats are CS Seal Coat, non uv. Black, white, and gray bucktails are Do-It's Select grade bucktails.

I did up a couple ballheads using this same head/hair pattern last spring and hammered walleyes/saugers while shore casting the big Ole Mississippi near Red Wing, Minnesota until the river finally ate them. We've got a couple really nice days floating up here at the end of the week and I have the itch so I tied these up this morning after tinkering with the paint jobs yesterday. No bait is used, just the jigs and a spray of gulp juice.

I whipped up a couple more very solid walleye colors yesterday while waiting for some paint to dry hard. The weather people are yacking about 50 degrees tomorrow so I may wander down to Red Wing and make a few casts. Tomorrow, Friday, is the second to the last day my current license is good so......
