Title: 4 1/2 in. Swimming Shad (How many oz)
Post by: bassmasters40701 on 07/04/12 09:08 UTC
Does anyone know a rough estimate of how many oz. it takes to shoot the two cavity swimming shad mold?

Thanks for your help!

Less than 2 oz (aprox 1.2), but I wouldn't try and work with that little plastic.  The least I normally cook at one time is 4 oz.

I find that; as Jason says;  Working with much less than 3.5 - 4 oz.  is difficult and  problematic.  Once I get below a full injector; uneven heating and air bubbles become issues.  I try to get several molds clamped up that will utilize the "last injectors" worth of plastic.  The heal, sprues, and runners; once cooled; get zip locked for adding to another batch as reheats.
