OK, few have asked me how I use up my plastic leftovers and not try to save them for later. I rarely save as the colorant changes on re-heat, flakes curl and bleed, you may get bubbling. Just to much hassle to me. So, I am always looking at where to go with the leftovers. Trying to think ahead.
I have a great example from last night. Buddy wants gp/chartreuse claw baits... As I am making, I am thinking about the frog color another guy asked about. Hmmmm.
Here is the gp/chartreuse claws (X2 colors all the way!!!)

Add some green hi-lite to the gp top portion and 3 drops of yellow to the chartreuse part and... frog color that is crankin!!!! A perfect match to what the guy sent me. He was crazy about the pictures I sent back...

Just a simple example but a way to basically use up the rest of your plastic, add a new color on and make another angler happy. All in one shot!!!

Very nice work Jim, love the idea of switching it up and being able to make someone else happy!

I really feel like this Jim has a chance to be pretty good at this pouring plastisol..me?? I'm kinda advanced...working on a new color, "clear w/silver glitter"...tough to get the formula down.
-
Seriously, clear is far harder than opaque colors!!! So hard to get them without tiny bubbles that it drives me crazy! Fish don't care, customers probably don't either but I just don't like it!!! :D
I will keep practicing til I can get this bait stuff figured out!!!!!

I just throw all my leftovers in a pot and shoot a bunch of Beagle Puke. Then give them away ether to the kids friends or as samples. John
I'll post a pic in misc gallery

Awesome example Jim!

I actually use a crystal clear with silver flake at this mine lake that is really clear. Works better then anything else there.

LOL! I used to do that too but ended up with a LOT of leftover stuff and once a guy asked me for more in the color I made... Uhhhhh. Never could get close.
Stopped doing that for samples as I get lots of orders when I blast out something that makes guys or shops look twice. As a matter of fact, my samples are inspected twice before they go out.
I fish the rejects and "Beagle Puke"... LOL!!!

Jim, You are right about this. I just got off the phone with a guy who wanted more of those "sand" colored baits that I tossed in as samples. I then had to explain what Beagle Puke is.

I grab my wifes silicon chocolate molds and pour it into them. It makes great toys for the bath.fairies butterflies snails stars and the like. My daughter loves them they suction to the sides of the bath like a limpet to a rock. A bit different but it uses the scraps up and she loves them

Beagle Puke- love it! I call ours "Born Again" plastic, and I have found myself trying to match my own "born again" colors, so I try and be creative like Jim. :)
