Title: Griddle usage.
Post by: 412BaitCo on 08/31/12 23:14 UTC
So I tried keeping a Pyrex cup siting at 350 with a griddle and still had temp dropping with the griddle set to 450. I see a lot of videos of people doing this so what am I doing wrong? Should I just get a presto pot and get it over with?

your not alone ... i too have used the griddle...set to 450 and the temp in the pyrex cup does drop...I have found though you need to have like a cup or more of plastic in the pyrex cup .... the temp drops alot slower with more plastic ... this way you will have enough time to full medium injector like 3 times before plastic gets to cold...depending on how many molds you have set up to shoot.

The hottest part will be the bottom of the cup, it helps to stir it often, like once every minute!

You will have to reheat in the micro depending on how many molds you have every 2-3 injections.  I have enough molds to usually get 2-3 injections before I have to reheat.

I am probably the one in the videos you are watching or at least a few of them. It does not keep it for a real long time but if you reheat the sprues every two or three shots it will boost the temp in the cup just enough to keep shooting. My griddle only goes up to 400 so mine is pegged all the time. Heat loss from the sides of the cups is the culprit but we do with what we have. My griddle has high sides and I always said I was going to make a lid with holes to keep heat in and near the sides of the cups. Maybe when I have time. Good luck. And thanks for watching my videos.  Frank

Yer Frank your vids rock.
I found one of your videos buy accident on youtube and it is what got me started in this whole bait making fiasco. So it is all your fault  >:( the thousands and thousands of dollars and countless hours spent making these addictive little plastic gems. Then all the extra time i have had to spend on the water "testing" my creations and my wife loves that. No really she dose if I'm not home I'm not making any mess  :D

The US government should give you some sort of consession for all the Aussie dollars i have injected (pun intended) into your economy ;)

Perhaps time for another one.

Cheers

Yes It was your twin injector videos and that brings me to a sad story. My girlfriend ordered me a twinjector from bass tackle for our anniversary and we ended up getting a empty smashed flat rate box with a message from USPS that said we found this damaged package and due to machinery sometimes items are damaged and or separated from their package blah blah we apologize. The post office said if Basstackle didn't have insurance there is nothing then can do. Hopefully Monday we hear back that they did! I hope we don't lose out on 160 dollars!

I dont hink you will have a problem with BT, I had a mold lost one time and he sent it out the next day.  I do think post office is wrong. It should be covered

I agree. It's like anything else. You're being paid to deliver an item and if you lose the said item you should be responsible and I don't think the business should have to suffer.

Glad to have spread such a fine disease on some of you. I did not ever think that many people would watch those videos. 412 Basstackle will take care of you as always. I have gotten packages from people that had the same note on them now that really put you in a bad place. Frank

Disease isn't how i would describe it.
I went to my shrink friend of mine with this "DISEASE" and asked him for help. He looked at me over his glasses and simply replied "Stuart you don't have any discernible issues that i believe need treatment at this time. Howeaver i do need discuss my soft baits for the next Flathead and Bream comp, I'm after some more of those Golden Swim Minnow`s they worked a treat last weekend"   :P
