Need some advice here. I have had some requests from potential customers outside the country. Is there anything I need to be aware of other than the additional shipping costs? (i.e.) Is there an export tax or other costs that need to be considered? Thanx, for your help. John

John,
I have a big following in Australia, France, South Africa. Ship there monthly. As far as I know, the additional taxes are paid on the recievers end.
Big boxes are very expensive!!!!

Get paid BEFORE you ship!

Get paid in US currency and there may be additional credit card or money transfer fees. :o
I think there are some shippers who will not guarantee ship dates or insure packages be sure to discuss this with your client too.

Me being an Aussie i can tell you we pay no extra taxes unless the purchase is over $1000 AU then we pay an extra 10% (if you declare it ;) ).
I bring components in from all over the world and the only real issues i have had is from lackluster suppliers either not using adequate padding or leaving part of the order out. Ask Jason for advise his packageing is always spot on.
I have had a couple of items ceased temporally by Aust Customs for closer inspection but everything has come through.
USPS is my preferred postal service from the US and I use DHL for all other countries.
Get a paypal account set up they take a bit extra but a secure site is peace of mind for me when paying internationally and I'm sure others think the same.
You can send me whatever you want as a test i will put my neck out there and your guinepig :)
Good luck

I also ship out of the US often, be very careful with random, large orders. There is a new scam going around, the involves intrernational check payments, such as pay 50% before order, 50% after. I was almost the victim of this scam early in my business days. But mostly it is safe and easy.
