What size hook is recommanded with this monster? 4/0 - 5/0?
-
I would use a 6/0. If it was me. I use a 5/0 on the ten. This moved to the five on the ten inch. Seemed to have better hook up ratio. Get the hook little farther down.
-
(LOL) I have never used bigger than a 3/0. Does Trokar even make a 6/0 worm hook? Guess I have to go shopping.
-
Mrex, You chasin' Ling?
-
I'm not sure all the sizes offered in it, but if I were going to throw that bait, the 1st hook I'd look at is the Owner Oversized Worm Hook. Big, long, and an extra-long hook-eye...with Owner quality. For Bass, I'd probably lean towards a 5/0 or 6/0, but in the event I was imitating an Eel for Ling, I'd move up to 7/0 or 8/0 in said hook.

Thanks BKJ but plan on using them for some pond bass, Two over 10 lbs so far this year hope to be able to add to that number.
-
Wow 2 10's out of one pond?!!? Need help?
-
It is around 8 acres in size and is a good pond no doubt. Stocked with Florida's in 1988 only time it has been stocked and it has everything from little 8" to 10 lbers. Also has some nice size Sac A lait.
That nobody ever fishs for? I am trying to snag one of the sows.
-
Ay, I'll be home in 9 days, so let me know if that pond needs to be thinned out a shade or 2... :D

Don't you mean Pomoxis annularis ? Sorry couldn't resist :P
-
Actually I live South of I-10 so they are in fact Sac-A-Lait ;D
Went to the pond dident have a hit on the Monster bait but will keep trying.
Have to be careful casting it. Gotta keep it low wind tends to catch it if tossed
very far. Hard to get back into trying to hit targets. Trout fishing we just toss em as
far as we can.

I carry "Sacalait" everywhere I go. It's in my blood, no matter where I-10 is at. And MRex, You're Blessed, Nearly Beyond Understanding...since You've only been throwin' "as far as You can". There ain't nothin' in the world like the Salt. Specks and Reds and Flounder, oh my! lol
-
