Title: I need a recipe
Post by: fish_4_all on 09/27/12 18:43 UTC
I thought that cinnamon would work for a motor oil and I am thinking it is not going to.

Is it possible to make a motor oil out of anything I have:
FL orange x2
Fl pink x2
Chart x2
purple x2
bubblegum x2
white x2
cinnamon x2
pearl green smoke regular

I know, why can't I ask an easy question.

I was going to say 2 parts amber to one part of maybe a baby bass or green pumpkin.

I was thinking the purple with the cinnamon and maybe a  smidgen of the orange.

Might have to go and get some mineral oil and experiment if no one has any suggestions first.

I love motor oil if it is a slow bite throw Motoroil there is a big difference between manufacturers.
Motoroil is not a hard and fast color. I have like 5 different ones. I like the std 148 it has the stongest green tint. Also like to add a drop of amber or Tiger Gold for every drop of motor oil (just what I like) Tried to add green hi-lights  but did really care for the effect. But I do add a smidge of .008 green glitter helps highlight the green.  Zoom has a really cool motoroil but have not been able to get close to the one they use for lizards.

In process of testing bleeding right now with chartuse tails. Mixed up several different batchs about a month ago. Seems if you put a lot of worm oil in bag they tend to bleed, the ones I left dry have not
bled so far. I put them dry in a plastic coffee can so far they still look good.

I made a nice looking motor oil by accident. No green tint but actually looked like real motor oil. I was heating crystal clear plastic for eye dipping and got distracted by the kids so yeah the plastic cooked a little to long and browned a bit. I wouldn't recommend trying this simply because it would be impossible to make exactly the same twice but I let the temp come down and shot it into baits and sure enough it looked like a translucent real motor oil color and caught fish.
