X2 - Snakehead

We had some of them back home in FL, they actually sell small bats to beat them with when you catch them.

Certain counties require you to kill them on sight and report your location and quantity to the game warden.

Looks like something you should hit with a bat.

Do Snakeheads have teeth like a Bowfin? I have caught my fair share of bowfin's but have only seen pictures of the Snakehead. Had a few friends that have tried to lip bowfins but most of them only tried it once  :P and as far as bats go I prefer a .22 to the head ;D

I catch the occasional Bowfin (Dogfish) and they sure don't look like that up here!

Interesting info on the snakehead and just how dangerous it is!

many call the snakehead an "illegal, invasive" species...like the boa, pythons, et al...I prefer "undocumented" vs. illegal

Yea that looks like a really bad place to put your thumb lol. I would have to keep a .22 cal Snakehead tamer handy if we had those around here.

A nice "Ram-Set" style, hand held single shot would be prefect!

Nasty set of chompers.  Please keep them up your way.  We are worrying about when the Silver and Bighead carp are going to really get established in the TVA Lakes.

Snakeheads are nasty.  Supposedly tasty tho.
Bowfins are awesome though.  Only fish besides shark with retractable teeth!  After having seen them around pretty much every year I finally caught my first one this year.  Good fighters!

On top of being illegally introduced, they can also slither on the ground without water for 3 days without dying.  No joke- so trying to quarantine them is a large task.....craziness

Very true, they actually slither side to side on land. It is a rather scary thought.

I am pretty sure you can get like 5 or 10 bucks for cathing them in MD.  I hear they are really good eating.  I also live near the Potomac and they will tear up a soft plastic quick. I cound didnt catch the one that was tearing up my bait, but I sure went through some swim shad that day.
