Title: American shad smoked on a plank

Around these parts they have a shad festival every year and the one recipe that keeps popping up is this, take freshly caught shad and place on a cedar plank cook till done throw away the shad and eat the plank I never tried it but it sounds good to me ;D

That will work for freshwater Drum as well.
