A very popular and effective Pink-based color in Inland Saltwater is called "Opening Night". Most widely, it's a Pink Pearl back over a Clear/Silver Holo belly. I tried to make a certain color for a certain purpose and made Pink Pearl instead of what was intended, and because I always measure everything (and write everything down), I had the Pink Pearl recipe.
I've since decided that I'd make an "Opening Night" with it, but wanted a recipe that would mix it up a bit, based off of the Pink Pearl.
"Wild Night"
12 oz.s Plastic
1 Pinch Red Pearl Powder
1 Pinch Red Hilite Powder
1 Pinch .040" Chartreuse Flake
1 Smidgen .015" Chartreuse Flake
Use Silver Holo flake instead of the Chartreuse to get an "Opening Night" type of color. For a more precise "Opening Night", add about 1 Drop (spoon) of Purple Hilite Powder. I'll also shoot this as a Single Color, not a laminate.

I've made several batches of the Revised (current) "GO Shiner". It's an easy version of the fairly-universal Emerald Shiner, and has worked WELL for me. Excellent in clear water but shows up surprisingly well in murky water, so it's also versatile.
-
Thanks for the recepts ,they go all in my color recept software program ;D
post photo's when you can ?

Per Gary....."All Colorants are non-X2".
Such colorants exist?

Little color I made up last year after catching some craws at the boat ramp.

Golden baby diarrhea maybe?

Nah, too much brown and orange for it to be called that. Infant poops are about the most disgusting thing I have ever seen though haha.

Where do you get fire opal flake from and do you have a pic of your go-shiner?

Fire-opal is a micro glitter. You'll find it in with the powder paints/vinyl jig paints in the lead section of the on-line store.

My Fire Opal is not Micro, it's .035", although I'm not sure if it's available at the Do-It store. If Do-It doesn't have it, LureCraft may have it, MF may have it. I forgot to snap a pic of the GO-Shiner baits while I had my bag with me. I may get around to it this weekend. I obtained my Fire Opal flake from Jason, then made the Green Opal Minner color, and got an 8-ounce jar of that flake as Jason sold out of that flake.
-
I thought I read on here one time that the fire opal was the same/similar to silver halo but I could be mistaken
-
Negative on'nat der Creeper. Fire Opal is 'bout the best there is if You really want to imitate Shad. Cast Net a Shad and check him out real good. Fire Opal like a Boss...Green Opal Minner without the Green and Gunmetal...straight FO = Shad like No Other. Trust me.
-
My favorite belly color is a real thin silver pearl with the micro type of fire opal glitter.
Fire opal picks up and twists colors next to it, but as Gary mentions I find the best way to use it is straight up in a thin silver pearl, no color, just plastic a couple drops of the silver pearl colorant and FO glitter.
-
Hi all,
Stuart here from Perth Western Australiia.
I can see where to get the Fire Opal Glitter, but where do I get the "Silver Pearl Powder" from ??
I am wanting to do a Thump Grub in this
....ps....you guys are inspirational and Thanks for all the tips and replies :)
-
The silver pearl is an M-F colorant.
Here's a link. Its color number 41...... http://pouryourownworms.com/Liquid-Color-1-oz-1oz-Liquid-Color.htm
-
Thank you ctom :)
-
I didn't see gunmetal on M-F's site. What's a good recipe for gunmetal?
-
Make a medium smoke, then add silver pearl powder to it in small amounts until you get the shade you want.
-
I don't have my Bass Tackle Bag here so I have to settle for some Wutz-its that were in the scraps. They're good baits but the Super Stinger is my choice, so these are in scrap since I don't have this mold anymore...

The Super Stinger also shows this color much closer to the Natural Shiner, than the Wutz-It does.

Breen/Orange
(http://custombaits.com/gallery/315-200515161114.jpeg)
-
Man I like both of those, what size is that bait?
-
Thank You Bro. That's the 3.75" Super Stinger. My "GO-Shiner" color and a Berkley Powerbait "Breen/Orange" remelt. A Bass Fishing Essential...soft Jerkbait, but a finesse rendition. I like that bait a LOT...a Gamakatsu 3/0 EWG (584) (or Trokar EWG Worm hook) fits it perfectly...
-
The Super Stinger (SS) is rigged on a 3/0 584...
Trokar 3/0 EWG is above the SS, another 584 is above the Trokar for comparison.
SS is about maxed-out with the 3/0...a 2/0 in these two Hook Models would be well-suited to the SS, also.

I may have missed it but what is the recipe for your go shiner, that looks like a good fish catching color
-
Yes Sir, Mr. Sisco...GO-Shiner is my #1 color in a Super Stinger. Its different attributes allow it to be a somewhat-versatile color, as it shows up quite well but it's also natural/subdued enough for clear water. The Bass like it a lot! I've picked up some Shiners, I think they're Emerald Shiners, that were very close to this useful, productive color. It's about like the venerable .270 Winchester cartridge...it's so good, it's almost boring.
GO-Shiner (Green Pumpkin/Opal)
12 ozs Plastic
8 Tads (16 Dashes) .035" Fire Opal flake
24 Drops non-X2 Green Pumpkin
1 Slightly-rounded Smidgen Purple Hilite Powder

Same color, same bait...different background, indoors.

Wanted a Black that had a bit of Pearl in it to grab any available light to increase visibility and better-show motion. This had to be a Black that was just Transluscent enough to let the light in to let the Pearl show, while being a True Black, not a Smoke. Here it is...
Black Pearl
12 ozs Plastic
24 Drops Do-It X2 Black
1 Pinch LC Lumina Black powder
-
He's just like a Gypsyyy, MIGHty HArd to hold! Great Americaan FISHermaaan's got FISHin' in his SOul!
Roland Martin show , it took a little while to figure who's it was.

Roger on'dat!

-
...SHAD...
3 Parts Pearl White (Pearlescent) to 1 Part Pearl Silver
For 12 ounces of SHAD that's a bit Transluscent (so Light enters and dances), in non-X2 colorants, use 60/20 Drops of the Pearls. For an Opaque bait, double the Drops to 120/40.
Because this Color is Pearl-Rich, Hilites don't show up in their Normal Intensity. The Pearls hide the Hilites here. To add some Blue or Purple (quite Natural in Shad) add 2 Pinches of Hilite (Blue or Purple in this case) to a 12-ounce batch of plastic, for a 60/20 mix. The 120/40 mix may be too Opaque to add Hilites, You might just be wasting a bunch of Hilite in that 120/40.
-
Or don't add any Hilites at all. The color is good with just the 2 Pearls.
