Title: Metal Green...for Lack of Mental Effort for a Name
Post by: BareKnuckleJigs on 11/27/12 12:23 UTC
I'll go ahead and call this "Metal Green", since I've got other things on my mind and am about to get moving to handle a few things.  These pics do NO justice for the Color, so much that I almost didn't post this because of it.  I'll post both pics, but they look like they've got a little yellowing in them, when they don't.  We're covered by clouds and the sun said it's a little on the cool side, so I've got that against me, as well.  I'll throw these in the Salt when the water's clean, for a natural minnow imitation, on a jighead of course.

Metal Green (all liquid colorants are non-X2)
12 oz.s CCM Plastic "Hard"
30 Drops CCM Pearl Green Smoke
12 Drops CCM Pearlescent
1 Smidgen LC Ultra Lumina Black

I can see shad baits having that color in the belly sections. Very, very smooth color there. I like it.

I had to go back for another peek and now think this one might be a good one for lake trout baits...tubes to be exact.

Yes,  I can see that being a super tube color. Something they haven't seen, but close to shad color.

It would make a great back with a clear belly / holo flake also.  It would be a super smooth looking bait.

Thank Yawl, Fella's.  I dig this one, myself...it'll definitely go in the book.  I've got a few more ideas for the Lumina Black.  I can't wait to see this color or a similar color in the baits Yawl are talkin' about!

Great looking bait! I do one with gold smoke and lumina olive ( titanium shad) but I have got to give the pearl green smoke and lumina black a try, I think it will put alot in the livewell.

BK, guess a little silver or silver holo glitter would be fine on this bait, huh??  or black..

Roger on'nat, Wubba!  I can't wait to get these marinated, wet...and chewed up!

I thought about a version with a flake.  If You've got a Holo, I'd try that.  I can't make a concrete decision within myself for a size, though.  My mind keeps going back to .040", but if I used a smaller flake it'd be either paired with .040"...say a light hit of .040" and a slightly lighter hit of some .015"...or a little .008" by itself...I think a Smidgen of .008" Silver Holo and Choot 'Em!  Silver Holo would probably light that color up...I just don't have any Holo flake.

If I had Silver Holo, I'd try maybe a Smidgen of .040" and a Smidgen of .015", or something like that.  Since this bait has so much Pearl in it, any flake I'd add would be sparse, not real thick...but that's just me thinkin' my style.  A Smidgen of .040" and a Smidgen of .015" in 12 oz.s isn't much...I may use a Pinch of .040", though.  Every variation in my mind...a Smidgen of .008" Silver Holo...a little more wouldn't hurt.

a pinch of limetreuse flake would be killer in that color!

I likes the way you guys think! All sound like great ideas. I think that ocean sray green .015 would look good too. But I think you cant go go wrong with the holo. either. IMOP maybe 1 drop of x2 black would really set off the colors. Bait looks great as is, dont get me wrong. Thats just my opinion.                                                                                                                                                                                     Bob

BBB, the way I post pics...first I upload them/it to the Gallery.  I'll pull up the "page" for that pic so it's as big as I can make it, right-click ON the pic, then left-click on "copy shortcut".  When I'm posting the pic, typing my comment in the comment box (the same box I'm typing in for this comment/post/reply)...where I want my pic to be, click on the "Insert Image" icon of the little "Mona Lisa" and the 2 "img" brackets come up in the comment box.  Left-click between the two... [brackets] l [/brackets] ...then right-click and "paste".

One thing I'm surely considering, sitting here looking at this color (in hand)...instead of making a Smoke with Colorant then adding Flake, using just the Lumina Black then adding Flake, for a Smoke/Flake bait...just using Lumina Black instead of liquid non-Pearl Black colorant.  Say...Smoke/Blue or Smoke/Red or Smoke/Copper.  We fished Smoke in the Salt, mostly in Winter through the years.  Smoke/Red was a mainstay.  Just a thought...

Thank You, Ma'am!  (I highly recommend the 4" Skinny in the Salt, BTW...the 4" Finesse Worm...I prefer to use it on a jighead, anywhere You'd use a straight-tailed bait...http://www.caneycreekmolds.net/index.php?action=gallery;sa=view;id=1445 (http://www.caneycreekmolds.net/index.php?action=gallery;sa=view;id=1445))

ok so i did a spin on BKJ color and did it with olive lumina powder, green smoke(not the pearl one), and pearl.  I also shot the same color but added dropp or .015 black flake and smidge .008 holo green.  I will try and get pics posted but I have to agree with BKJ pics dont do colors justice..

BTW.. Im calling this the spin color BKJ Green.   ;D
