Hey jason I'm getting ready to place an order for a couple of the new ddgill molds I was just wondering if you are able to cut out co. Names in the molds so they show on the finished baits? And if so how much extra would it cost? Thank you look forward to hearing back from you.

That would look sweet , id also be interested in this

It would be cool until you had everyone doing it and everyones names are on the same bait. I like the idea but you would have to change it somehow to make it your own. If he does it for you and then does it for some one else. Who is to say that person "B" wont come after you for the same bait. Or who is to say that People would think that person "A" is copying person "B" Does that make sense? I do like that idea though. I mean a lot of us on here do make the same baits and sell them to people so I dont know, I guess it would kind of be the same. I used to be indecisive but now I'm not sure. hHAHAHAHAHAHA

I have no problem with it considering the molds are mass produced and anybody can purchase them. Everyone makes their baits different. Different brand plastic, coloring, glitter, with salt without salt, with different additives ect. Me putting my co. Name on the bait just let's my customers know they have Game Changers.
-
agreed on the above. even though there would be more than 1 of this mold . having company name/initials would let customers know who made their particular bait

I know basstackle use to charge like 15$ I think but I don't know if they still do it. Lol and they don't have the DD gill.
-
lol i think itll be a good bait. im curious about what it can & cant do. i know itll catch thats for sure.

From an Intellectual Property perspective:
CCM does not have a design patent on his molds or the baits that come from those molds, therefore anyone can make them.
Unless CCM states in their terms and conditions of sale for that mold, that you cannot put your name on the bait....you could.
You can put your trademark name (tm) on the bait. If you have a registered trademark (r) name you could put your name on the bait.
For example...lots of people make hot dogs...but they put their trademarked name on their hot dogs packages. They could put their trademarked name on the dogs themselves...but apparently they don't think it's worth the cost.
From the US Patent Office:
A trademark is a word, name, symbol, or device that is used in trade with goods to indicate the source of the goods and to distinguish them from the goods of others. A servicemark is the same as a trademark except that it identifies and distinguishes the source of a service rather than a product. The terms "trademark" and "mark" are commonly used to refer to both trademarks and servicemarks.
Trademark rights may be used to prevent others from using a confusingly similar mark, but not to prevent others from making the same goods or from selling the same goods or services under a clearly different mark. Trademarks which are used in interstate or foreign commerce may be registered with the USPTO. The registration procedure for trademarks and general information concerning trademarks is described on a separate page entitled "Basic Facts about Trademarks" (http://www.uspto.gov/web/offices/tac/doc/basic/).
Basically you get a Trademark by claiming so on your website, packaging etc. You get a "registered trademark" by registering it with the Patent and Trademark Office.
Weasel Words: I am the Manager of Intellectual Property for a high tech plastics company...but I am not a trademark Attorney. You should consult a trademark Attorney if you wish to register your trademark, or you have any questions on how to protect your trademark.
-
trademark attorney will cost you a bunch of money, register it yourself for $150 or so...maybe more these days.
patents can be a different deal.

legal zoom does nice work...very pleased with them!

If I remember correctly; the subject of engraving molds came up over a year ago. Engraving the mold "name" into the mold. As I remember: The gist of the thread was that a quality engraving machine is not an inexpensive item and a trip to a jeweler might be the best option. This may apply here in one way or another. I; in no way; am advocating anything here, just trying to remember the thread.
Here is link to a thread that is from earlier this year also in the same area --- http://www.caneycreekmolds.net/index.php?topic=1976.msg12517#msg12517

That is a great idea! I never thought of that I bet it would be pretty cheap to just get my co.'s name abbreviated and I can get it on all my current molds brilliant! Ok gonna order my gill molds now lol thanks guys.

Basshunter from the looks of the views at the top-- 119 views so far with only a few responses you were not the only one refreshing and checking back, I was checking back myself.. Thanks pjmcla for the link...

It is possible, but not something we are setup for right now. To get into doing something like this we would have to figure out a process and cost structure, or minimum mold order that would make sense. For the DD Gill it would be interesting because I'm not sure where you would put it. The only flat place is the tail and it has ribs on it.
The biggest issue for me would be if I got an order for 5 different molds that needed engraving (or several orders). Having inventory would be pointless. At that point our shipping wouldn't be the same day / next day, it could end up being next week or longer if it got out of control. Let me think about it and see if we can figure out a process that would allow us to do this to molds in inventory and at a reasonable price.

I personally don't have an interest in this but it is really nice how you (Jason) will discuss different projects with the guys here objectively and give it your honest attention. Very classy. That is why I enjoy returning here and to the online store.

In my opinion this and his company's products is what sets Caney Creek apart from other similar sites. I have molds from 5 different companies and only one outside of Caney Creek pays much attention to your needs or questions and that one doesn't hold a candle to Caney Creek in the end.

I second what Ctom says. My experience is the same.
Also; Jason will not release a mold until he has fished it and confirmed that will indeed catch fish; not just fishermen. A lot of time is involved in this aspect of bait development that we don't "see".

If you want you name in the molds them take them to a local engraver and I bet they could do it for you.
