We have some really exciting news to share. We wanted you to know about this before an official Press Release is made in the near future.
For the last couple months, there have been discussions between Do-It and Caney Creek about how we can provide the ultimate products to you. The owners of Do-It, Jason Haefner and Ryan McBride, are both really passionate about the outdoors and fishing, just like we are. We have gotten to know them and learn much about their mold business, other lines of business like CSI (Component Systems), and most importantly – the passion and pride the employees of Do-It have about what they do. Overall I can say this, they are awesome, and are going to bring so much additional technology, innovation and manufacturing capabilities to what we are doing.
With that said, and with this common passion, Do-It Corporation is acquiring Caney Creek Molds.
What does this mean? Initially - all sales, operations, manufacturing, etc. will be moving to Do-It. Research, design and prototyping of soft plastics will continue as normal on Lake Fork.
The full integration of the two companies will take a little time, but until then, things will function as normal. Looking into the future, the expectations are limitless. Both companies have incredible manufacturing capabilities and processes. Once the best of both are combined it will be something to behold. There are obvious synergies like jigs and plastic made for each other, but there are many new products we are already discussing that will become feasible in the future that frankly, Caney Creek would have had trouble delivering without the help of a 50 year industry leader like Do-It.
Thank you all for your encouragement and support over the last 3 years. We couldn’t have gotten here without you, and won’t be able to get where we’re going without you. We couldn’t be more excited about what the future holds for all of us. We hope you have a Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and are looking forward to taking the next step in 2013.
God Bless!

What about buying of plastic, colors ect?
-
Obviously there is a lot to work through, but there isn't any change planned from a subtraction perspective. The change I would expect would be additional options in molds, colorant, plastic, accessories, etc. This change is about improving and offering more, not taking anything away.
Thanks,
Jason

Congratulations Jason to you and your family. I hope the amazing customer service and product quality I've come to respect ccm for continues on seamlessly.
-
That great new Jason!!! Looking forward to the future.
-
so what what happens with prices and designs of bait and do-it now seller of caney creek molds or is it to add jig molds, not a take over? :P
-
Sweet,just wasn't sure that's why I asked :).
-
So all ccm molds are still gonna be avaliable right? I hhave been purchasing more molds fromm ccm than anywhere else lately for your designs and functionality along with great customer service I really hope this will remain the same as I am beginning to expand mmy business with your products and have customers that love these products. :-\

Hi Matt,
All the current designs will continue as is. The main goal in all this from my perspective is about new - new designs and new complimentary products. This is going to free me up from worrying if we have enough bottles, boxes, etc. and allow more focus on designing and testing new baits (like the one you've been asking for ;D).

Yes. Matt just asked a similar question, this not about taking away, it's about adding. It will be a huge positive and provide you with even more choices and new designs faster.

Thanks for clearing it up for me jason you had me nervous lol it sounds like we can expect some great new additions. Maybe you can convince them to make a concave bottom bullit weight mold lol. I just put an order in for one of your bigfoot frogs can't wait to try it out. Happy holidays to you and your family jason and congrats

I think you will be happily surprised by the outcome on both sides. They are top notch and want feedback just like CCM does.

"allow more focus on designing and testing new baits"------It is never a bad thing when all you have to worry about now is fishing and fishing and more fishing......Congratulat ions to you and your family..... Merry Christmas and Happy New Year...
-
Awesome, Jason Sir...Praise God.
However...:D...I have to echo BassHunter5...my jaw dropped when I read the Original Post. I'm a fan of Do-It, all my lead molds are Do-It. As for the future, I'm lookin' forward To-It...!

This is like when a young man comes to take your daughter out on her first date. Your angry, nervous and unbelievably scared of what is going to happen.
-
Congratulations Jason! That is awesome news for you and your family. I cannot wait to see what the future holds. Have a safe and Merry Christmas! Enjoy your time off!
-

It's a little different - this is a couples date. We're in this together and share a common goal.

Jason, will u be employed by Do It...or work for them in an advisory role...or be a true partnership?? Thanks ::)
-
Also, what will become of this web site? Will you still be here to answer questions; or how will it be handled?
-
Also "All sales will be moving to do-it" When specificaly does this happen and whose web site do we go to to order from? Will Do-It take Paypal? Will there be a place on the do-it web site for caneycreek? I know this is a lot of question very quickly and it may take you some time to get all the answers. Congradulations and I hope everything works out.
-
I think TheDreamers post summed it up lol. That's a good question about the reward pts also. I guess only time will tell. Keeping my fingers crossed
-
I can order my favorite things at the same place. Jig molds and plastic molds. I think that's great.
I hope this forum stays. I'll miss Denny in the morning with my coffee. Shoot ill miss all of you guys. I'm on here at least twice a day.
I have a shaky head idea for do it. Too. If they are interested. Ha ha.
-
Agreed with justin I'm on here all the time looking for used mold deals, new bait pis this is a great forum for info and sharring info with other members who are passionate about lure making and design. Id really be bummed if it was to change.

We will be working as partners. Jason

At some point the two will need to be integrated so you can purchase from one place. We need to figure out which platform will work best to do this. Until a change happens everything will remain the same. When it does happen it will be as seamless as possible - just more products to choose from.
Jason

The rewards program will remain unchanged and as originally introduced. Jason

Happy Happy Happy

I can order my favorite things at the same place. Jig molds and plastic molds. I think that's great.
This is why this makes sense. Not only will you be able to get it in one place, but working together Do-It and Caney Creek will be able to achieve more than working independently. All of the best in one place, plus collaborative designs moving forward.
I hope this forum stays. I'll miss Denny in the morning with my coffee. Shoot ill miss all of you guys. I'm on here at least twice a day.
The forum will stay the same. It's as much a home for me as it is for you. The only reason I can think it would ever go away would be if it became an unproductive place that wasn't appropriate for anglers of all ages.
I have a shaky head idea for do it. Too. If they are interested. Ha ha.
Don't laugh - that's what this is all about. Taking the next step. We are definitely interested in new ideas as always. THe entire goal / purpose is to evolve and provide more - not take anything away.

I like the idea of being able to match say jigheads to craws in one place. Lol and I was serious about the concave bottom worm weights put in a good word for me lol no one offers this style mold for the hobbiest. Thanks for taking the time to answer all these questions jason
-
Yes, I think most of us has as many ideas on jig molds as we do plastic molds! I know I would love to see a underspin mold with a plastic mold to fit it. :o
-
Jason I just want to take a second to say thanks for answering all our questions and easing our mind. It helps!
-
Jason, love ya buddy. Congratulations. Sounds exciting. I have been on the "merger" and "partnership" ride a few more times than I liek to admit, but it sounds like this case will be a win-win. Again, congrats!
...by the way, in retrospect, don't you wish you would have just scheduled a conference call? ;D
-

It's not a problem. I think most already know we wouldn't be doing it if it wouldn't improve our capabilities to offer the best products possible. As soon as a few new joint products roll out I think any concerns will be put to rest. We can't be all things to all people, but this is definitely a huge step towards providing a really deep lineup.

If I could make one suggestion...on their weedless jig molds, 90% of them don't have a plastic keeper on them. I feel that your current product line would do well to have the jigs that they affix to be made with keepers. They just came out with the new Trokar line...great looking heads, but only 1 of the weedless heads have a keeper on it.
Congratulations on your partnership, I hope it is more successful than your wildest dreams.

Mental note - conference call. Good idea! ;D

Thanks Tim.
Great idea. As soon as I get a chance I'll create a jig section and we can start putting ideas in there.

I'm curious what this might do for the prices of the molds? With manufacturing taken over by a company such as Do-It, I could imagine that they're capable of higher numbers of molds with less labor.

It doesn't really work like that. All CNC work is based off the cost of the machine and time it takes to run, setup, material, tooling, etc. The biggest variation you see related to price is normally related to detail in a mold / design (detail=time=cost).

Congratulations Jason on the merger... My questions is will all CCM Molds be availible after the merger and will the CCM Forum still be operational.

Yes, Yes and more new molds to come...

It's top notch. Jason is taking time out of his Friday night to answer questions.
That's why I shop here.
It made my head spin when I read the email.

I had to have a beer! I was stressed there for a minute lol.

Congrats. Jason! My question to you is, will we still be able to get the same top notch personal customer service and speedy delivery of products as we have been getting? And will we get to talk to you, or will we have to speak to someone in big corporate office, where we will be just another customer who's name is quikly forgetten. I understand that this is the name of the game in business is to grow. And dont get me wrong I am very happy for you. I am worried about my business as I have been able to produce a better product, and make it quiker to my customers thanks to you and your company. And will we be able to continue to get all molds and products currently sold by CCM? Jason I wish you the best, and I know that if your still going to be involved everything will be allright. Best of Luck to you and your family, Bob / JBC Lure co.
-
Hi Bob,
Yes to access to me. Plus there are some really good sticks at Do-It that will become part of the mix as well. I personally like getting different feedback from multiple sources - just like we have on the forum now.
As far as service goes, we try and answer the phone now, but I think that will improve with more people involved.
This is what ultimately made me comfortable with the decision : they are not a huge impersonal company. It won't take long and it will be like they were always part of CCM. Besides CCM they are the only other mold company I know that test every mold. They make them themselves in Iowa - I love made in USA mfg. They ship the same as we do - mostly same or next day. They have the same desire to be the best.
This was a big decision for us. I can honestly tell you that we wouldn't be headed down this path if I wasn't very confident this would be a real positive for all of us.
Give it a few weeks, once you get to know them like l have you will see the potential. And within a few months it will be really obvious what the benefits are.

Thanks Jason, Looking forward to the future with CCM & Do-it.

Congratulations Jason

This is great news I am very happy for you, but I do have a concern. What about personal designs sent to you for a shot at making them? I don't mind sharing my ideas but I would like to have my idea on the market first.
-
JASON This is a huge deal. This is a win win for all of use knowing that you will be designing baits that we all have got spoiled by.Can't wait to see what comes out in 2013. Thanks for all that you do. mike 8)

For now I would go by the guidelines specified in the request a bait section. If or when they change we will update them to reflect whatever they change would be.
Thanks,
Jason

Will the reward point we have already earned still be good? Because I'm almost to a new mold lol!

Yes. We think it is a good thing. Moving forward the plan is to continue the program as is. However, just like when we originally rolled it out, we have to reserve the right to change it in the future.
Thanks,
Jason

Denver, Iowa is only a couple hours south of me. I can see Andrew and I taking a road trip maybe.
-
Good to hear about the rewards points! Not that I have a lot racked up, but it's a good program. Hopefully we'll get points from Do-It products as well! Already posted this to facebook, but wanted to post it here as well.
Jason, knowing your commitment to your customers and your business I'm sure you gave this plenty of thought and went through a long process to make sure it's the right thing to do for you, your business, and us. Thanks for being an awesome company and good luck! I look forward to the new year!

Ctom and Andrew on a road trip to Do-it. There's a thought.

Yeah, Paul. That could be a long drive.

Yeah, Paul. That could be a long drive.
I wonder how many stops there would be along the way.
Jason

You know Paul...you're not that much further down the road. Should we call ahead or make it a surprise?
-
Jimmy Buffet has Marguaritaville.....mayb e Andrew and I can coin a new one...."Wasting away in Iowegianville". Who knows. Maybe this could be the new theme music for this merger.
-
Andrew & Ctom - As they say on the Game show -- "Come on Down". I need to clean out a two story garage and get a fair bit of yard work done. Are either of you alergic to poison ivy or poison oak? :D
-
Please...
Thank you,
Jason

Oddly enough, I'm not allergic to poison ivy. Found out while fishing the WI river on a 90 degree day. Walking through waist high grass in shorts and sandles that soon enough gave way to waste high poison ivy.

Congrats to you and the family fro your hard work paying off.
I do not order anything from Do-it due to their freight policy.
For international it is 35% of the total value of the goods for freight. I found that very high.
If I $500.00 worth of molds, I will be paying $175.00.
Please do not forget about the international clients
-
How about if Do-It would have a "open house" on a saturday, say in march, for a bunch of us to come and see the works and discuss baits and molds we'id like to see? Im not to far away (Indiana) and Id like to meet some of you guys. ;D ;D
-
Congratulations Jason to you and your family. I hope the amazing customer service and product quality I've come to respect ccm for continues on seamlessly.

Thanks for the reminder.

It's already on my list of things to discuss. I think an event would be a great idea.

Thanks for clearing up the shipping Jason
-
Jason,
Congratulations on your merger with a fine company like Do-it molds. Great synergy. Here's to 1 + 1=3 !
-
I think it is great as it should open new ideas, new or easier ways to making a product, I have never had to contact DO-It for Customer Service maybe that is a good thing, I do enjoy the one on one that Jason has given when he is called, he is certainly a person the stands behind his work, and product, as well as opening up with the personal side of his life. It is the whole small town type service.
People are against change, just the way they are.
Do-It molds has had a lot more exposure in the fishing industry than CCM and I think some people are worried that the "big box store" customer service may take over. I have been here for under a year and with my interactions with Jason, I believe if this merger was going to take away from the things that CCM delivers that it would never happen.
Jason, thank you for taking the time to address everyones concerns, and making sure the CCM standards continue into 2013. Good Luck and Have a Great Holiday Season.
-
I think that was very well put brent
-
Congrats Jason on your merger with do-it. HAVE A MERRY CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR AND GOD BLESS!
Do you think in the future that a catalog would come out with all the products offered by your company and do-it... ;D ;D ;D

Congratulations Jason and family hope that all goes well in the new direction.
One thing I would like to ask though will those of us that order internationally still be able to order as I have had dealings with Doit before and there international service is not nearly as good as that I have recieved form you and your family.

Hi Mick.
We've shared with them how we do International and they seemed very interested in it. I would think if it makes sense they would change to the way we do it. I'll know more after the holidays.

Thank you mate, all the best to you and your family for the holidays :)

Will you guys be moving into a larger place? Will you start selling larger quantities of plastic? Can't wait to see the new molds coming out. That eel looks real nice.

Yes, on two fronts. Obviously the part that is moving to Do-It will be larger. But the R&D, Prototyping and Design part of CCM will also be moving to a larger facility (still on Lake Fork). This move will allow us to start selling drums once we get our feet under us.
Thanks,
Jason

In all candor, I was a little apprehensive about the new merger with Do-it. I've probably got 25 Do-It molds and am very familiar with the quality of their products. Even so, my initial reaction was one of pessimism. I thought things were pretty much perfect the way they were. What I didn't take into consideration was your (Jason) vision for your company. That's your business, not mine and thank God for that.
I think your involvement with this thread has been exemplary in answering, honestly, all the questions that have been asked. It's because of those answers that I'm no longer dubious, but excited about the new relationship between you and Do-It. Come on 2013. I can't wait.
Merry Christmas to you, Diane and the boys.
-
Well put, Denny. I wish posts on this forum had a like button.
-
SWEET!!!! Cant wait.

As a newcomer I have been buying all my supplies and making plans for 2013, with that said if I could request something it would be if anything from CCM is scheduled to be discontinued we would be given a heads up. I planned on CCM molds being my main source of product moving forward and will stay that way because of the products themselves, but would like a heads up if something is due to be discontinued..

Hi Tim, great request. Since our first design we have only discontinued stocking 2 molds. Both are available as special order under the special order section. There is no additional charge for ordering them, there may just be a day or 2 extra as they would need to be made.
There are currently no plans to discontinue any molds. I would anticipate if any were discontinued in the future the same thing would happen to them, they would just be moved to "special order". Once a mold is designed there isn't a reason for it not to always be offered in some capacity as it is just software not taking up any inventory or space until it is made.
The only other exception is our 6" Swim Bait which is still in inventory and available by request. While it fishes extremely well, it is difficult to shoot and I want the opportunity to explain the quarks of it prior to someone purchasing it and struggling with getting a good bait out of it.
Thanks for raising this question.
Jason
-
Jason, if You're going to be handling the "R&D", testing...does this mean You'll be able to get some time in some SALTWATER? If so, hit me up anytime, I'll pass on anything and everything I can think of, that may help. I'd like to see You post some pics of nice Specks and Flounder, or maybe even Grouper, Amberjack, Snapper, Tuna, should You go Offshore...
I can see You grinning From Ear to Ear, holding a Gator Speckled Trout with a CCM/Do-It Carrot-Mustache!!! By the way, I'll be making a "prototype", myself, in a custom soon...something for Inland Salt...I'll send You some of these...!!! This bait is One of Several, that will be a Staple for Specks and Flounder (and the popular Redfish)...based off of Your design.
-
So does this mean I'll find CCM products at Fleet Farm, Gander Mountain, ETC? That would be pretty rad.
-
That's a good question, Nick. I really hadn't thought about that.
-
This move will allow us to start selling drums once we get our feet under us.
Sounds great, I will be one of the first drum orders!
