Title: Ultra Minnow Slip Jig
Post by: TheDreamer on 12/18/12 08:42 UTC
Would love to see a slip jig with a skirt collar similar to the one currently produced by Do-it, but instead of the standard "bullet" shaped head why not in the Ultra Minnow? Allowing the creators to airbrush amazing patterns on an amazing design and matching the skirt. This design could become a go to bait for many anglers in many situations. Having a "bullet" weight that not only has shape but colors and a skirt would allow you to take one of the finished items, slide it onto your line then tie on your Texas rigged plastic of choice for a trailer.

This setup would allow you to change your size/style of plastic in seconds while keeping your weight and skirt on without having to cut/re-tie anything. This idea has been floating around in my head for a while now, would really like more feedback/ideas.

the only problem i see is the head not staying upright. thats why you only see the bullet sinker slip jig.. i have also thought of the same idea. but came to the conclusin that the jig would roll or not stay upright.

I see where your talking about the head rolling to the side. This setup would be great in shad colors that would make it appear as a small bait fish feeding on the bottom or you could swim it while having the bait fish profile a skirt and a trailer without blades and wire involved. This head could also be designed with a thicker belly profile that would be an attempt to keep the head level throughout it's time in the water. My idea was not to replace the bullet but to allow a new way to apply different techniques to a great setup.

Edit: If the head does turn over/roll, it would only add to the flash and dying shad traits. Pegging the nose of the head would help this some but it would not fully eliminate the roll over effect.
