Title: component question/opinion
Post by: ctom on 12/26/12 10:46 UTC
I generally can be a hard sell type of person when it comes to things that make specific claims to a specific end, but this one time I am going to try it....this is about the uv enhancer that can mixed into the plastic. I am going to use this in a batch or two of baits to see if there is any real pointed advantage to using it. I spoke with one other shooter who is using it and he swears that the amount of brightness it adds to baits is something else.

The product I am going to use has been on the market over a year. It companions with other like products that can be used on jigheads and other hard baits as well as plastics that can be dipped into it and marked with a pen-type applicator. Some pictures I have seen are just short or amazing. Some of the pics are of glow baits coated with this uv enhancer, others are simple head colors. If this stuff can gather light as it claims it might just become a another tool in lure illumination without the need for glow pigments.

Glow pigments are spendy while this product is relatively inexpensive in comparison and being a chemical liquid it goes right into the plastic. This is not a water based product so it is safe to incorporate into regular recipes but I am going to focus on the clear coat over eyes, thus putting the product closest to the sun source needed for it to do what it is supposed to do. This is a daytime use product and will not change anything after the sun sets nor will it accept and sort of charge to make it work.

The pics I saw got my curiosity levels jacked way high so I ordered some of it to try. Anyone else played with this sort of product?

I have used the overcoats for lead and I think I see a difference on the amount of brightness on the flouro. colors.  I didn't know there was a product that could be mixed / used in injected plastics.  That would be very interesting.  Thanks.

I didn't know there was such a product either. Care to share what it is?

The one for lead I have used is from CS components.

It is a pretty tough protective paint overcoat which does not degrade two D stick on eyes.  Barlows and several others carry it.  It has done a good protective job for me.  I had been using the non UV form for several years when they came out with it.
