I have a LOT of scrap plastic, old baits etc that I want to re-grind and use. Any tips?
It's 98% CCM medium in a wide variety of colors. I bought an apple corer with a big handle to help chop it up into pieces. I normally try to stay with similar colors, but it all pretty much has to be black or blue...or brn pumkin in the end! I add a couple oz. of new plastic, some heat stabilizer and 5 drops of softener...and normally some additional glitter before I pour.
I see some past posts on using an old meat grinder..worth finding one?...or is just chopping it up good enough? It seems the smaller the pieces...the faster it melts to 350 degrees...which I assume I still need to get it to 350 because of the new plastic (right Jason??).
I think I better order a couple extra bottles of X2 black! Is any other color strong enough to mask over the mix of colors??

Usually remelts produce green pumpkins or browns.
Stir frequently. Like every 30 seconds.
Add heat stabilizer and a lil fresh plastic cand hurt.

I just cut mine into pieces about an inch square to re-melt. The raw plastic, stabilizer are a must in my opinion.
Knowing how you like "natural" colors, I'd add a half cup of the raw plastic to a black or a blue and try to make a smoke or thin blue that can be manipulated into colors for you pannie baits.

I found a n old grinder at a yard sale for 5.00. One of the good ones, and it workd pretty well. But it's a little work. I'm not sure it's worthbthe effort, but it does work. if you get one make sure it's a good one.

I bought TPO a KitchenAid mixer as a gift several years ago. I've been adding attachments periodically for birthday's, etc. Several months ago I came home with a grinder attachment and she mistakenly thought it was hers.
It sure beats hand grinding. I was able to grind three plastic shoe boxes full in a very short period of time. Perfect size for remelts. Probably not a good idea to use it now for sausage...too chewy.

I use a lot of remelts and turn them into darker color frogs. I just break it down into smaller pieces by hand. I heat in 30 second intervals. Remelted plastic or a least mine has a lot of bubbles so I will let it sit on my pouring table for a couple minutes to let the bubbles diminish.

Once you hit 350 with the original cooking you are free to heat to whatever temp works best for you. However, if you add fresh plastic you will need to hit 350 again.

Yes sir...350 is a must on re-melts with raw plastic. I bring my re-melts to 350 anyway, but I do it in baby steps after the first minute.
