Title: Listening to the river flow
Post by: ctom on 03/30/13 20:43 UTC
We have a river less than 500 feet from our back yard and a large creek only 50 feet from there. With our recent heat wave, they are running fairly strong tonight. Unless we have windows open we don't normally hear the water but even in a closed house we can hear the water in the creek tumble over the dam.  Music.

We had some light rain to help disolve our snow. We went from having a foot across most of the yard to only the remnants of the piles left by the snow blower. I can step out on the driveway and smell mud. I love it.

It IS a wonderful thing Mr. Tom.  The beginnings of Spring and the hope that it brings.

Enjoy,

Jerry

One of the most impressive sounds I've heard in nature is the ice breaking loose and the flood of plate ice collision than ensues in the late winter/early spring.  Eerie, powerfully impressive and just something that makes you feel alive.

Tom,  I know what you mean about the certain smell too!  Thanks for bringing us there.
