Title: McGriddle/Hotplate
Post by: wilks19 on 04/11/13 10:28 UTC
Morning all.  I was wondering what your thoughts or on griddles and/or hot plates.  Also, where do you buy them and what brands are recommended?  Thanks in advance all.

I think the griddles are good for pancakes, but that's about it.  I know Frank uses them to keep his plastic hot, but it didn't work for me.  For big pours I use a couple cast iron pots that I keep heated with Rival brand hot plates.  They work well for me

I have an electric square skillet that I have sand in and use it if I am doing  a huge amount of shooting involving two or three colors. I do mean huge too, which really isn't on my list much. The sand helps to buffer hot spots in the skillet. I use a microwave for 98% of my cooking and heating.

Thanks guys.  I thought most of you use the hotplate, but wasn't sure.  I have seen posts about both and figured why not ask about both.  I had a hotplate I got for free, but ended up tossing it because it was smoking very badly and didn't keep a constant temp.  It would get extremely hot and burn.

The sand makes sense and is a great idea.
