Title: Fire Tiger
Post by: ctom on 05/01/13 12:51 UTC
I normally don't care for this color pattern but did some up for a friend in a larger mold in a different shape of bait and they sort of caught my eye. The green can be a headache but after getting my buddy fixed up in his bait request I thought I'd try to shoot a moldful of small frys to see how they took to it. Not bad really.

These are all 4 ounce plastic batches using the X2 colors. The orange is hot orange of three drops + 1 drop of tomato. The chartreuse is 5 drops of X2 chartreuse. The green is 4 ounces of plastic with chartreuse using 3 drops of X2 chartreuse + one drop of Caney's original blue. All colors got 10 drops of stabilizer and 10 drops of softener. All colors Caney's soft formula.

The orange has a touch of gold and orange hi lite and just a tiny smidge of .015 red glitter.....hardly any at all. Chartreuse is straight up. The green has a bit of green hi lite and some green .015 glitter.

I shot the green back color using a plate. These were trimmed and re-inserted in the same cavity they were made in. The orange was hand poured to fill about 1/2 of each belly cavity. The chartreuse was shot slowly thru the middle and is the tail color as well. Green 3mm eyes and clear uv top coat finish the baits.

These will be in the boat for the next run to the crappie hole, maybe next week after our MAY SNOWSTORM passes thru the rest of this week. The weather is doing a better job of keeping me off the water this spring than the little lady does. lol

Anyways....here they are. Enjoy.

I am not a big fan of firetiger either Tom, but you sure did nail it.  I love the way it looks.  I might have to try it out sometime.  As always, great job Tom!

CZ....nice colors in that one. I lean towards the more transparent colors and thats where I butt heads with problems. That green in your bait is much more in line with fire tiger patterns I have seen before than the green in mine. I just have to do the transparents though. lol

Its fun seeing the different variations. Anyone else got a FT pattern they want to toss out here?

Good looking baits.   I am another big fan of fire tiger.  Got started on it way back when Rapala first introduced their shad rap in that paint scheme.  Great winter crank bait around here.

I like the transparent ones also. I seen a rainboe trout color bait on here somewhere I loved!
