Hey Guys, hope you can clarify some stuff for me. I like the challenge of figuring things out for myself but now I'm wasting my time and spinning my wheels.
Aluminum stick molds, I have K-Molds 5 1/4", each have their own port. It was explained it is a pour and injector. I only inject, never learned pouring. I believe the look very close if not exact to a senko. I see other molds that are to fat, slim, rings are thick or the taper if different. I would be interested to see if I would get more consistent baits if I had just the one single port with the thicker sprue leading to their own cavity instead of each cavity having its own port. What do you guys use, single or individuals? Pros and cons?
As for finding an aluminum mold that replicates the senko, I am reading that Del had/has one that's spot on? Do they still make it? I've seen Denny talking about the love of his. Here is the one I have, I have four of them but willing to convert to the other style if its more beneficial.

Before I was injecting, I was pouring. I had Dels hand pour 5.25" stick which I foolishly sold off, thinking another company's injection was more affordable (cheaper) and I could get more for my money. I was wrong. Bill may chime in too, I personally think Dels is the real deal when comparing to the actual senko. That's not saying the others won't catch fish, they will. Sometimes the fishermen have lock jaw worse than the bass. ;)

If the mold is designed correctly to vent well; I can see no advantage to individual ports. My $0.02.

I have the Bear's http://www.bearsbaits.com/5-Stik-Bait-Mold-5-Cavity_p_236.html# that I bought to make stick baits for a buddy that will only use "Senko" style baits for wacky worming and it injects great...and sure looks close enough to me (he sure hasn't complained!!!).
Personally, I prefer the CCM Carrots...but you didn't ask that.....

I have Del's 5.25 and 6 inch senko molds. They are both hand pours and I will never part with either of them. I have poured many baits with them and have caught many fish with them. They are great molds.
I also have several Bass Tackle 5.25 stick molds all of which are injection. They are a little thinner than a senko, but still make a great looking bait. They are much easier to pour than Del's hand pour molds. I have caught many fish with them as well.
I think I also have every carrot mold ever made. They are very different in appearance than a senko, but much easier to pour. And you know what, I've caught a lot of fish on carrots too.
I compare your question, Jay, to the old argument of what's best...Coke or Pepsi? It all boils down to personal preference. Fish are pretty fickle creatures and often times we don't know one day to the next what they're going to bite. So there is some validity in having one of everything.
For me, injection makes a whole lot of sense over hand pour. Size does matter, sometimes, but not always. So, what's best? Diet Coke, of course.

The K molds you have is hand pour only. It does not inject well at all.
Dels is nearly identical to a real Senko. They come hand pour or inject. Hard to find used these days. I heard you can prder it through Lurecraft and they can get it pretty fast.
Bears 5.25 is same length as Senko but thinner.
Bears 5" is thick as a Senko but shorter.
I have not tried others.

Denny, I always enjoy your wit and keen sense of humor. Thank you. So I'm learning that all molds pour and inject differently on a quality and difficulty level.
Bill, that comparison image is PRICELESS. Thank you!!! I'm leaning toward picking up a couple of Del's from LureCraft. When I bought the Kmolds at LureCraft I asked if the Kmolds were injectable or pour and Kim said both, but made no mention of them being a preferred pour. I'm just tired of getting that hollow upper body on my stick baits from time to time. Do the dels vent better than the kmolds? Is that where the difference is or is it the one port? Will a 3oz injector be sufficient for the Dels mold? Denny has me interested in a carrot mold as well. Are the 5" most common for the carrots as well?

The Dels shoot fairly well. Still dont get all perfect baits every time. My twinjector does not work well with the Dels either. The CCM injector just BARELY fills the molds. I replaced mine with a Bears (same injector, just 1 oz bigger) and it works great.
With dels, inject with slow steady pressure. Hold hard pressure at least 15 secs when full. Top off with injector. Top off agin in 15-30 secs pouring from cup.

Jay, I think I counted 13 different size carrots. The 5" is certainly a good one, but I think they all are. I had this same conversation with Jason a long time ago and he suggested the 6" skinny carrot. I bought that mold and it has turned into one of my favorites. I bet if you asked others you would get different opinions. In fact, let's give it a try.

I do not inject "Senko Style" baits; but if I ever do the picture helped immensely as a comparison. Thanks a lot. I appreciate it. Another example of why this forum is first rate.

I have the Kmold. I dont like it. I switched over to Bears. Love those. they work great for what I need. Just like everyone on here. I also have the carrot molds from CCM and fine them to work awesome as well. Are you pouring for resale or for yourself? If for yourself I would go with a 6inch skinny carrot, unless you are just hung up on the fact you have to have a "Senko" style bait. Either way they all produce and will keep your live well full.

I'm not selling, just making them for myself. I'm leaning towards the 6" skinny but the 5" skinny is on my horizon. I just enjoying hearing what the fan favorite is. It's really helping me decide. Thanks

I have Bear's stick it does a fine job. The only complaint I have with Bears molds is, the sprue cavities in a lot of his molds are larger than most other companies. You have to mix more plastic than necessary to adjust to the size. I can get more baits using less plastic with CCM and BT.

All I have is the six inch dragon tail mold. And an extra tail mold. From there I can cut off the tail for a carrot stick and cut the length to make a 5,4 or a 3 inch. In my opinion the six inch I make with HD wacky style is the deadliest I have when the bass are being picky. I also have the Bear 6 inch stick bait that I inject with HD and I will say it makes a nice bait. A little fatter but because i use HD and can play with the rate of fall I think a better bait. With all that being said I don't feel you can replace one for the other. Both baits have there place and are needed when the bass are looking for a slow falling bait.
By the way in the last two tournaments I have won a little over $800 ( a 1st and a 3rd ) using just these two baits. A worth while investment for me.
