Title: Bass Assasin Electrtic Chicken
Post by: RTL on 06/11/13 08:56 UTC
Does anyone have the Recipe for this? I have two friends that fish inshore and have asked if I could make them some of these. I was wondering if anyone else has tried to mimic the color?

I was thinking for the Pink to go with maybe the following:

4oz Plastic
4 Drops of CCM Bubblegum 2x Colorant
1 Drop of CCM Red 2x Colorant

Thats what I would try.

I'd skip the red X2 and toss in some red hi lite.

Good thinking Ctom.  Just remember sometimes a little of that stuff goes along way.  if you use to much you could call it Nuclear Chicken  :P

Looks like I need to put in another order.

Damn this is expensive!

Ain't that the truth. In a 4 ounce batch I'd add a match head size dip of the red hite, maybe just a spot less.

I like mine more hot pink so I just use fl pink for the top. You can always add a drop of white to get more bubblegummy. :)  I would leave the red hilite out of this one.  The bottom will be more lime than green chartreuse.  But hey I like my colors bright for fishing the bayous.

So, did I get a defective batch of hilites or is our version of a match head size drastically different?  'Cause my match head amount is barely noticeable.  To get color like the store pic shows in black I had to use nearly 1/4 tsp.  1/8 tsp is pretty good for the kind of effect you usually show, Tom.

What's with that? I trialed a bunch of the hi lite colors, all of which Do It stocks, and never saw anything like that except in a color they do not carry.

If you were using a "bubblegum" colorant, the color starts out more opaque than a pink or red that has been toned down to make the bubblegum color. By adding hi lite to an opaque color all I look for is that slight sheen in normal daylight. I might not even see this sheen in artificial light. I wouldn't try to get the red to stand out, but rather, just sort of "be there".

Tom, I used violet hilites in transparent blue.  1 drop x2 blue for 6oz plastic; ended up with about 1/8 tsp hilites, maybe a little less.  Maybe it's due to the color similarity between the blue and the violet, but match head quantity was imperceptible.  I increased hilite quantities for other colors to 1/8th or slightly more per 4-6 oz.  color dependent, less translucent colors needed more.  I'll be playing with them more soon I'm sure.  Only got to try them out a little so far for the bait swap.  Life has been super busy, no time for fishing or injecting.  Great product anyway, I got the sample pack and love them.  Even at 1/8 tsp or more per batch, they will last awhile.

Sorry for thread jacking RTL!

I have always been heavy handed with glitter and hi-lites.  I find my usage rates more in line with Botanophilia.  I will admit I am looking for a definite; and you might say strong; effect as apposed to a "hint".

Well, I attempted my first attempt last night (Top 4) and my Second attempt this morning (Bottom 4)

I need to get the green just a little more chartreuse looking and I'll have it down pat. That Pink matched perfectly

I think you got the bottom on the top and the top on the bottom. Shouldn't it be the other way ?

RTL....

You are not alone. I actually have "top" and "bottom" engraved in the respective halves of the molds I have if a top and bottom are different.

Green top and pink belly makes more sense as far as looking like a baitfish.
