Title: Watermelon smoke
Post by: ctom on 07/07/13 11:33 UTC
Here's another nice bait color based on a greenish back. This color is made using some left-over watermelon green and some smoke, in about equal parts and diluted a bit with some raw plastic. Some Do-It Fire Red glitter has been added for pizzaz. The red eyes really set it off.

Using the pearl  from yesterday I hand poured the belly cavity but did not pour a seperating color. Ironically the colors each reflect enough light to create the illusion of a third color. Kind of neat.

I really don't care for watermelon green as a stand alone color but I love to use it when I tweak colors. This blend here has been a dandy for cold water walleyes in the past and has also shown some solid number of crappies when the fall water begin to drop and the slabs put the feed bag on. TodayI made up my stash for the year.

Wow, beautiful work! that clear  job is unequaled. Something about that red or bright orange glitter that really sets a bait off.
