I ordered this mold and its got a flat side on top of the head. Is this the only way this mold comes? The product description doesn't say anything about it being flat. Kind of an odd feature for a football head mold.

I'm not sure what you're talking about as that line is a "true" football shape.  It almost sounds like you may be looking at some incomplete castings.

I have the same mold, and yes that's the way's its made.
