Title: Question about colors

I have a ton of airbrush paints (Createx Fluorescent, Transparent and Opaque), Can I use those colors in my plastic? or does it have to be a specific type of paint?

Nada. You will find that the best results attainable come from colorants intended for plastics. Going down other roads will hand you a bunch of headaches.

ok, so what kinds are for plastic? I see a bunch of colors from Bears and CC  . But they don't say what type of paint they are caller (Acrylic, etc). What do I look for if I look online for other paint colors?

Shane the stuff for plastisol is referred to as colorant and should not be confused with paint. If your looking for alternatives some have had good results with art pastels and I have read that some laundry dyes work but you should do a thorough search on the subject before adding unknown materials to 350* plastic such as water based material be safe!

Best bet is to stick with purchasing colorants from the same place you buy molds etc.  lurecraft, bears, CC, m-f, spike it all make different colors.  Dry ingredients like glitters pearls etc it might be ok to CAREFULLY experiment with.  I figure if I need it and its made specifically for plastics, that's what I'll buy.

thankyou all for your response. Gone2long made a good point. Im messing with 350 degrees of HOT PLASTIC, So I think I'll just stick with what bears and CC sells.

You can panit your plastics with your airbrush paint.  YOu just have to make sure that your baits are free from oils. Almost a "dry" feeling.  If not the airbrush paint will just wipe off.  Ispikeit.com has plastic paint that is for painting your lures, it can be put in your airbrush as well.  Just make sure you get the retarder.  Best of luck with the airbrushing.   be sure to dip your baits after.

Createx is water based and will likely lead to a substantially undesirable outcome when added to hot plastic, like it will more than likely spew plastic all over your bench and you.

Well, if your wanting to change my mind about adding my airbrush colors to plastic. That last post just did it....  :o OUCH

Yeah you cant add those colors to hot plastic. Very bad idea.
