I downloaded a fishing app for my cell phone and it is actually pretty cool. It uses the GPS to figure out what lake I'm on, factors in the local weather, ask what species of fish I'm fishing for and then makes a recommendation on bait, structure, etc. It also uses the lunar stuff to tell you the best times to fish that day (or a day in the future).
I have no idea if it would make a difference on the water. I was just pretty impressed that it automatically pulls together all the different variables and makes a recommendation. It won't be long before we humans aren't needed... I take that last part back, someone has to be silly enough to buy the stuff. :P

What app? Is it Droid or Apple?

I have an app on my Droid that marks this type of stuff down when you catch a fish, so that you can go back and analyze the conditions.
It tracks the location and you input the fish, location or lake name, weight, length, bait type and bait, and the weather conditions as well as the moon phase. You even take a photo of the catch for logging purposes. That app was free IIRC. I know there was a paid app that did stuff like Jason described.

Mine is for the Droid as well and was free with adds. It's called "My fishing Advisor"
Mike, what is yours called?

Its called Big Angler. its more a database that you input the catch in to rather than the one you described where it helps you select colors and baits based on conditions. I guess that both used together would be the way to go. You get pre and post catch info to look at for trends.
<edit> I just downloaded that app Jason mentioned and holy crap does it go into detail. Takes a while to input everything but once you have, you are all set. I like that you even choose what type baits you have in your box so it doesn't recommend something you don't have.

Neither of those are available for iphone, I just checked. Does anyone know of anything comparable to these for iphone?
