Title: Out in the shop.
Post by: CrabbyBass on 10/04/13 00:08 UTC
It has been a while since I posted pics on here. I had noticed that some of the bass I have been catching out of my subdivision pond had crappie tails sticking out of their throats. I thought about a crappie looking lure and this is what I came up with:

The next picture is just me messing around with some scraps. The Dreamer had us make him this really labor intensive lure. He had suggested making one in the gorilla tubes as well, so I did:

Anyway, that is all for now. Thanks for looking!

That swim bait with the hugely over-sized eyes is a nice one. I looked at that and could imagine a walleye hanging on it.  lol

The creature bait. Now we're talking color schemes. This one is an eye opener. Man I love the colors in this. Great work.

Those swimbaits are a great match for crappie and I know they are going to get killed!!! You creature looks labor intensive but the color combos along with the profile makes me think that it will be a super effective flipping and pitching bait, really nice work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

can you share the recipe for the belly on that swimbait? is that  a 'silver pearl' base?

Both look great but I love the swim. That is a great silver color.

Thanks guys!  I was happy with the way they turned out.  They turned out just like I envisioned, which does not happen often.  LOL!  The tube was kind of labor intensive, but was not too bad.  I injected the chartreuse first.  I cut off the body and then picked out every other skirt strand.  I then injected the black and cut it off just above the spline.  Then I injected the yellowed watermelon red flake scrap.  The belly on the crappie lure was 8 drops of the M-F silver in 4 oz of plastic.  I wanted it to be lighter so that the big black flakes showed up.  Thanks again guys!

The swimbaits are awesome, have you thought about adding a green hilite to them to guve it that crappie green tint they have,I've used ccm green hilite in a smoke color and it looks great, just my 2 cents, why fix it if it ain't broke right.       Thanks for sharing.      Jay

Thanks guys! I didn't even think about the green hilite. I have some leftover, maybe I will throw some green hilite into that. Thanks again!
