My main fishing boat is a 285 pro XL stratos (1993) with a 150 johnson .love the boat fast enough and old enough that don't care if she gets battle marks. I mix my oil so the motor should hold up. I am really impressed with the older stratos do at they have a lot of options that where ahead of there time. Front trim is my favorite! I do have my eye on the nitro Z9 and the lund predator 2010ss. Rangers are my dream oat but I think they have priced their way out of the market. 60-70 grand is not practical for me.
My favorite boat I have is a 15 foot john with a 35 tiller that boat has had for fish and other random dead animals in it that I can count. (I can count past 10) I love that boat I bought it before I had a drivers license. Its decked like a bass boat and can go anywhere.

I have a 14 foot AlumaCraft Jon boat. 20 hp Johnson [1967 vintage]. Does everything I need it to. Bow mount 55 pound trolling motor. Cuda depth finder. It goes across ice as well as the water and better than 900 pounds of fiberglass. In the spring, summer and fall I fish open water. In the winter I fish open water too from the boat and leave ice fishing to the rookie lightweights.

I fish all seasons I hate putting the boat away but i got to keep it out for a bit planing to go south for trip with mo-qawk to chase cappie and bluecat :P

93. Stratos 201lx pro. 200 Johnson.
597 DI up front. And a terrova MK too Love it.
Have a 10 Jon boat. That is very interesting with two guys and two 7 foot rods in it.

I always go for the fancy stuff :D. We fish from a 1987 Duracraft 21 foot commercial john boat. Pushed by a 1987 - 90 horse Yamaha. Minn kota 24 volt trolling motor and both Humminbird and Lowrance depth finder and gps units. Would not fish from anything else the way and where we fish. Fairly open water, dam generation, fairly heavy currents. Wonderful old all welded boat.

Justin I knew I liked you for some reason. I would love the 201 but they are still pricey I stole my 285 but had my eye on the 201 but most of them didn't have the Johnson fast strike on them which was the motor I wanted. Take the oil injection off and they are bullet proof.

My main boat is an 2009 Alumacraft Fisherman 160 tiller with a 25hp Etec on the back. It does a blazing 22mph...which is fast enough for me on the river...especially in the spring with lots of logs coming down the river! It's stable enough for me to stand and fish from the front platform. I've been thinking about going to an Alumacraft Competitor 165 for the wider beam...but my boat is paid off and I just can't seem to swallow boat payments.
My other craft is SeaNymph crappie jon boat that is over 40 years old! Lots of good memories in that boat. I went down to Indiana and recovered the boat half sunk...full of rain water and lots of leaves just before my Dad passed away from cancer. I eventually stripped it down to the hull and replace all of the floatation, new carpet, seats etc. That floatation was so waterlogged it must have added an extra 200 lbs to the boat! My son has the boat now, stored in his man cave garage and he plans on fishing with it with my grandson as soon as he gets old enough. That will be 4 generations that had fished from that boat.
I also have a Winona Canoes Fisherman canoe that I should fish out of more often. It can really get back into some back water areas that don't get fished.

2005 Ranger 521 VX FLW Tour Edition - 2005 Yamaha 250 HPDI
I have never fished out of anything any better. Awesome boat and fantastic fishing platform. I will not fish any other. This is my first Ranger and I bought it used. I will buy another engine for this boat when it calls it quits..... Ranger is the best I have ever fished... Bottom line
I have owned the following boats... .
1974 Terry Bass Boat - 88 Johnson - Learned to bass fish out of this one
1977 Mon Ark Bass - 115 Johnson - Took this to bass tourneys even till 2002 ... Guys laughed at me till I took they're money
1989 Bass Cat Pantera II - 150 Evinrude - loved the hull.... needed more room and hated the engine
1994 Skeeter ZX 200 - 200 Mercury - Boat had great fishing platform- Handled rough water terrible
1995 Stratos 201 XL Pro - 225 Johnson. ... Great Boat... Handled rough water pretty good... Hated the engine !!!!
2005 Legend 211 - 250 Mercury ... Boat would cut waves ... and would haul butt... Hated the fishing platform... Boat would rock from side to side when you moved on the deck..... Kids had a hard time fishing in it because of that .... Needless to say it didn't stay very long.....

2008 Ranger z21 40th Anniversary Edition bought out of the showroom with an evinrude 250 E-tech.
Very fast and handles rough water ( 6 foot waves) no problem Just added tow Humminbird 998 Si Di combos on console and bow.
Recently upgraded the motor to a 2013 model.
I owned a Skeeter and a triton and would never go back.

85 17 foot Sylvan Backtroller. Have tore the deck and flooring out two times and replaced it by hand. 85 Johnson 40 horse with tilt and trim. The oil injector never worked right. Cut the oil line off, took the wistle out that blows when the engine isn't getting oil and went back to mixing my own 50/1. Bilge pump works by me putting the wires on the battery. When the boat is empty I take the wires off the battery! Bilge doesn't work in the livewell either, I carry a bucket to fill that. On my third trolling motor, I use a motor guide saltwater model that is hand control. (No more cables to break.) Locator is a Lowrance x96. Tranducer is on a portable bracket and the locator is mounted on a 2 x 4. It sits on top of the livewell when I run the outboard. I pick it up and move it to the front deck when I run the trolling motor. I just got done putting new carpet on some new trailer bunks, keep the wheel bearings greased and this is all I need for now. If I go on a fishing trip and use the resort boat I take my fish locator and the portable bracket with me!

Mo I stole my 201. Too. ; )

I have a 16' Koffler driftboat for fishing our shallow non-motorized rivers and for trout on the lakes.
I run it with oars on the river but use a Minkota trolling motor on the lakes or occasionally the 15 horse Mercury bigfoot kicker motor off my saltwater boat.
For the saltwater I have a 23' Trophy with an inboard. I am having it repowered for next season after having motor problems.
I have bedspace for 3 people for overnight trips.
I have an Ace linehauler portable pot puller that mounts to my downrigger mounts for crabbing and shrimping.
I have a 17' canoe also but haven't used it in years.
I mostly make saltwater jigs and I sure love my Halibut fishing!

2001 Nitro 911 CDC w/Merc 250XB on the back, 101 MK up front.

My Ol' lady was good to me this year. I bought a 2013 18XS Trition with a 150 Mercury Otimax. No complaints here! I added an Humminbird 898SIc and took the stock depth finder and put it on the bow.
-
1989 Ranger 374v Commanche with 150 Merc. Blackmax. Had a little work done to motor so she will give the big boys a run for their money. An oldie but goodie!
-
Don't laugh yet, my whole setup cost less than $600, I don't have to buy gas and i don't need a trailer. I have a 14ft canoe that has a cheap trolling motor. It gets me and the kids or me and one friend out on the lake for hours of fun fishing. I wont set any speed records and windy days can be tricky but if you don't have the space or the money for a big boat a canoe or a yak can get you on the water cheap. Plus you can get to places no bass boat can.
-
DF, I dont think anyone will be laughing. Your rig is awesome for stealth mode fishing! Plus you can take some company with you. It's not about the size of your boat! But how much fun you have with it!
-
2012 BassCat Margay with a Mercury OptiMax Pro XS 115. Although I love it and its comfortable to fish in I have caught more a larger fish out of my $700 12 ft plastic Jon boat with a 55lb thrust trolling motor. In the end it's really all about catching the fish.
-
2010 Ranger Z519 Comanche with a 225 Mercury Pro XS. The front has a 36 volt Minn Kota Frotrex. By far the nicest boat to fish out of I've ever owned.
-
This is a cool topic. Thanks mo.
-
We have big rigs and small rigs; new rigs and old rigs and we all enjoy fishing and bait making!!! ;D :D
-
My favorite bass boat is my Ocean Kayak 13 foot Prowler Big Game fishing kayak. Not fancy, but it gets me where the fish hang out.
-
I run a 2008 TXZ200 with a 2011 Yammy SHO. Love the four stroke!
-
I would like to say for 20 plus years I fished out of a 1958 Starcraft 14 foot aluminum row boat with a 1979 six horse Jhonson motor. I love my Ranger but I will never own a boat that I will have caught as many fish as I did in that one. I'm simply to old now to fish that much. But it did teach me to make a lake small and fish what is in front of me and not run all over the place. I am a much better fisherman now because of it. I use to laugh back then at all the bigger boats and say that's not what makes the better fisherman. And now in a bigger boat I still think I was right.

2012 triton 18se - 150 optimax, Fortrex, 858 - front, 898 si - dash, 2 talons, 1158 si is on with list for spring. I have been really happy with the Triton; will buy another; would love a Ranger but can't see the wife letting me buy one.

I agree its all about the fun!!! My favorite boat in the world was an 1980 bass tracker 2 with a 50 merc! My bad bought it new when bass pro was a ware house. Drove from baton rouge to Springfield mo to get her and test ran it on table rock lake. Love to hear him tell the story about how proud he was and that beautiful Ozark lake. (Oddly enough I settled with my family not far from table rock lake.)
We fish every swamp and salt marsh in Louisiana out of her, even the gulf. She had a little JB weld, a little electrical tape, and a whole lot of love fish slime. She never left us and that boat had thousands of hours on her. The stories I could tell about that boat. Dad sold her in 2001 while I was at basic training. He didn't have the heart to tell me till after I graduated. I'm not going to lie I teared up purty bad.I hate that I never got to say good bye or take her out one last time. I wish I could find her and buy it back.

I have a 14 ft Bluefin semi-v. I put a deck in the front and it looks exactly like a mini bass boat. The rig is completely electric with 2 55lb thrust Mk's.
-
2009 Skeeter SX170 with a 115 Yamaha.
-
2005 Triton 196 powered by a 200 screamin' horse Evinrude ETEC. The boat dances on the water and on a long run I'll get as many as four miles to a gallon. Humminbird electronics and all the bells and whistles.
-
2001 16X54 Willie drift boat! :D
-
I have a 14' x 5' Pondtoon, only power is a 40lb thrust Minn Kota foot contoled trolling motor. It's my crappie catching machine. Since this picture was taken I've upgraded to Wise big man seats with arm rests. I fish private lakes and the owner hates Crappie in his lakes so I keep track of how many I catch. 2290 last year but a little slow this year only 1237 so far but knee replacement surgery in the morning with slow that down even more.

Wow! I like that boat! Does it need a special trailer?
-
No, just a regular trailer, it's almost a cross between a pontoon and a tunnel hull, it has a flat bottom.

I hope the surgery and the rehab go well. Really nice; well laid out and set up rig. I have looked at those. They seem to be a near perfect craft for still water if you can put in close to where you fish. I wish they were around back when I duck hunted.
-
Sweet looking ride there Blackhawk. I like it a lot. I don't crappie fish, but I would in that! It looks roomy enough.

Does a Hobie Pro Angler 14 count as a boat?

If it floats and you can fish out of it; it's a boat. I have wished many times I had a decent Kayak.
And yours is a really nice kayak.

Thanks guys

Try craigslist for your area. That's where I found mine. It wasn't the one I wanted but I saved a bunch of money and I'm really happy with my OK.

I maintain an Otter brand Final Attack 8-footer, 44" beam. I have a choice of 2 different Power Plants, a Minn Kota Endura30 for Fresh, and a Minn Kota Riptide40 for the Salt. I'm pondering rigging the beast for Twin Motors so I can walk the vessel, but haven't taken any steps in that direction. The rig, as it sits now, has Manual Trim & Tilt, Nissan Frontier Trailer, DieHard Marine Platinum fuel tank, Yeti YT50 Seat that doubles as a Fish Box. She's rigged right, Boys, and tops-out at just under a jog.
