Title: Issue with tube mold
Post by: KP Guard on 11/11/13 14:37 UTC
got a 2 cavity tube mold and am having an extremely difficult time filling out the tails on the spline, I have tried shooting hotter, longer, stronger pressure, and I have yet to be able to fill out all the tails fully. I am wondering if its possible the venting is inadequate behind the spline to allow air to escape the mold? anyone have similar issues ? not sure of the manufacturer.?

Is that the old discontinued BT mold.

If so you need to inject hard and fast.

Are you shooting a cold mold? Try heating that mold up to about 160 degrees and then shoot it ala Monte.

before the first time I shoot I leave it on the edge of the presto pot which heats it enough that its uncomfortable to hold with a bare hand, I tried shooting it hard and fast as per monty seemed to work better, I also cleaned out the vent behind the spline lightly with a file as there was  some rough spots. thanks fella's

You can try lubing the spine up with worm oil too.
