Title: Finesse float-n-flies/Doll flies
Post by: smalljaw on 11/12/13 13:45 UTC
I call these finesse float-n-flies, they are very similar to the Doll fly that I makes but there is a slight difference. These are tied with craft fur, Krystal flash and mallard flank, they are a 1/16oz with a size #4 sickle hook, my normal float-n-fly jigs are tied on a 1/16oz minnow head with a size #2 hook but when it gets really tough in the winter then a slightly smaller profile can sometimes be just the ticket. The one difference between these and the doll fly is the amount of craft fur used, it isn't a big difference like I said but the doll fly uses just a sparse amount of craft fur and a few strnads of flash, these have a little more, they are small but a little bulkier than my doll fly. I know it doesn't make a hole lot of difference but the doll fly I use for crappie and I'll often try it under a float, it is a multi species jig but I try to make the float-n-fly just a bit bulkier so that I keep the small profile but still have some body as I want to catch bass when I use them. The top jig is natural and the bottom is a perch pattern.

Nice looking ties smalljaw, in fish catching sizes and colors as well, good work...  now send me a dozen of each so I can make sure they're all that I think they are.  It's not easy to tell from a photo alone ya know  ;)
