After the plastic has reached the magic temp i add my color then the flakes and then salt and usually need to reheat for about a minute but i do 30 seconds at a time and i hardly ever do more than 8 oz of plastic

What does the salt do, you put it in the plastic and I see others packing their baits in it?

Salt in this case  is used as weight to make the bait sink slowly with just a hook and no additional weight. Usually fished texas or wacky rigged.

Salt in the bags is so they dont stick together and to themselves.

With that much salt did you add softener too?

I've never used salt before. But you would think that much would sink faster then you would want it. Plus pull apart easier.

Weak baits is the downfall of heavy salt.  Thats's where HD additive shines. But you cant get semi-transparent baits with HD.

I use 4 heaping tablespoons per 8 oz medium plastic + 2 tblsn softener for a similar softness and sink of GYBC Senko

That's what I'm saying. He's using half again more salt. Sounds like to me to much.

I guess he likes them to sink fast.

Some people insist that to match a GY Senko they use 1/4 cup salt per 1/2 cup plastic. No that is crazy.

Yes i fish a river mostly for smallmouth and i like them to sink faster in the rapids and faster moving water,i should've said river formula lol and i do make them lighter for the few lakes i fish, this is my custom bait.
I do us the hd additive for other colors.
And i us 4 oz regular mixed with 4 oz soft formula for these senkos.
And i really havend had a durability issue yet.
I hope this helps any confusion and know that im not crazy lol
