Title: Cold weather crappie
Post by: MO QWACK on 12/26/13 17:03 UTC
Well, we found the only spot on the lake that wasn't hard and the bite was on fire! We had our 45 in about 20 minutes! It was a beautiful day upper 30's sunny wow it was awesome. We caught them on double 1/4 ounce round barbed heads with 2.5 frys in MO milk color. It was a great time with great friends. Just for the record the 6'2 215 pound good looking one with the fish is me lol

Very nice. Who gets to clean them all?  ;)

Marking tons of crappie suspended but can only get a couple 6 inchers to bite :(

Mmm this is the "farther" section we fish its about 40 minutes but my usual stomping grounds are about 30 or less but momma and I are building a house 5 miles closer to the lake lol
I live 30 minutes or so from Truman about 50 from lake of the Ozarks, 1.5 hour from Stockton lake and about 3 hours from table rock and bull shoals

X2 I'd love to see a lake like that open here right now. I've got rivers to boat fish open but I'd never see a secluded corner like that. Its just downright pretty.

It doesn't get a lot better than that, Mo. Having quality water so close by is a wonderful thing to have.

Hey MO Quack, I hear the white bass have been hitting pretty good as well as the Crappie on Lake of the Ozarks.  The guys here in Mountain Grove, MO. have been going up there a lot.....course this is the time of the year they always go up there. From what they've been telling me the bite has been later than usual on white bass.

I'm about 60-80 miles east of Springfield in Mountain Grove.  Have a brick and mortar store right off of 60 hwy.  Ever get down this way stop in.

Great looking fish by the way!  :D

Thanks everyone ! Knife maker if you ever want to hit Truman I'll be more than happy to take ya. Missouri is truly blessed to have so many beautiful lakes. The wife and I went back today and the bait was sucked to the bottom and only manage 4 but we only got to fish for a couple hours. Still a beautiful day!

Its my take on monkey milk. I take  about 2 teaspoons of violet high lite  per half cup with large black flack to taste. You can't really use to much high lite. The more you use the more greenish and purple it will reflect. Its a very cool color and it must really look like a shad because it has  made a big  difference when fishing shad balls
