Title: a little plastic painting
Post by: MO QWACK on 01/30/14 19:25 UTC
I had about 5 minutes of free time this afternoon so I hurried these. They would of been a lot better with 10 minutes of time lol

Createx  will rub off extremely easy until you clear it but once clear it ain't going anywhere

He'd probably clear coat them before handling them too much is my guess.

But my question is what is this stuff? Same paint and process as the cranks you do?

Yea its the same paint I paint cranks with. The great thing about it is if you don't like it just wipe it off.

Spike It makes a paint to paint plastics; But: it is VERY heavy on voc's.  It requires a good bit of personal protective equipment and is very flammable.  Dries very quickly and requires reducers / thinners before use.  It does not require an overcoat, and almost cannot be removed.  They have recently come out with a water based paint that is much "friendlier" to apply, but requires an overcoat.

I just dip em in clear plastic and it seals everything. Some say if you let it cure for a couple days then it doesn't wipe off as easy but you still have to clear it.

That's the same color and pattern you had on your fingernails at the meeting, isn't it Mo?

I posed this question on TU and was told that Createx and other textile paints will crack even under a clear plastisol dip? anyone experience this yet, I wan't to start painting plastics and didn't want to drop a load of cash on another line of waterbased paints if I didn't have to.

I have painted hundreds of baits with Createx and dipped over it, I have yet to see a problem.
