So the river I frequently fish has a live cam on one of their fishways during the season. This is slightly downstream of one area I occasionally launch the canoe from, and despite this being a tributary to Lake Michigan, I was slightly surprised to see a muskie was filmed. There are pics and video captures in this gallery if you click on the pic for each species a larger gallery opens, for amusement check out the smallmouth gallery and watch them eat... practically everything except for the muskrat. That one was highly entertaining as well. :)

Dams can be great spots for all fish, and they sure can make up for slow musky fishing on the lake above... always worth a few casts (where legal).

Looks like that Smallmouth had a little trouble holding onto his dinner a couple times but still pretty cool to say the least.

The Milwaukee R. as a little of everything in it. And in the winter some of it can even end up migrating into downtown Milwaukee. I have caught 50-60 Browns this winter, a 19" walleye, 30" Pike, steelhead Largemouth Bass, and a few Smallies. One Smallie was 15" last weekend. Just an average Smallie but its literally downtown Milwaukee and 6 degrees outside. Its a unique fishery.
A few years ago, I caught a 28" Musky from shore at Firemans Park above the dam and one smaller one at Villa Grove Park. I go up there once in a while to just walk the banks and cast. I can tell you that my best bait, hands down, was the 1/8 oz Do It crappie spinner bait, #2 Copper Indiana blade, and a 2" or 3" black twister tail. I caught everything from the Muskies to crappies on that bait. I don't even bother with much else.

Milwaukee River is one of the most important rivers we have in east central and southeast WI. With the improvements that have been going on since the 90s, it's back to being a great fishery again. A number of species that are uncommon/threatened/endangered can be found in the state can be found in the river.
Willing to share a few of those 1/8 baits , Partycrasher? Wouldn't need to be finished, I can powder coat, add blades and plastic etc.
