Title: Glitter size for Crappie Carrot
Post by: T-REX on 02/17/14 11:48 UTC
What is the best &/or largest size glitter to use in the crappie carrot?

I use .015 and .040 just like I do for bass baits.

Agreed.  Any size glitter will work.  Most use .015 & / or .035 / 040.  On transparent colors I will put some .008 in to add a twinkle in the sun a fair bit.  Some even use .004 in some of their small baits.

thanks, i was wondering if the large flake would cause a problem.

The larger glitter sizes won't cause a problem with the bait per se, but it can look real ungainly in a plastic of that size.
Twice I have cooked up some great color and added large flake glitter thinking it would set fire to the finished product and both times the baits and left-over plastic went to the can.

Yeah, definitely takes some experimenting.  Start with smaller amounts of the large glitter.  I use about half what I would if I was doing a larger bass bait.  Black and Red glitters seem to be the nicest looking, with blue behind those 2.  Most other colors might be best in .015.
