Title: New Guy.
Post by: dfective1 on 02/20/14 18:44 UTC
Northern Ca guy, just thought I would stop in and introduce myself. Seems like more and more I fish I'm using stuff I made. From the do-it spoons up at Pyramid Lake to my hand poured trailer worms for my striper fishing down on the delta. I love making my own stuff and catching fish on it.

Here are a couple of the spoons that have been working.

And some of the fish I've been getting.

Looking forward to learning more from some of the more experienced lure makers as well. Great site, great idea!!!

Guilty as charged, I'm busted, proof right there I'll do whatever it takes to get a fish.
???
Thanks.

Welcome aboard "D".  Good looking Pyramid fish.  That water is crystal clear.  The belly boat brings back memories.  I've always wanted to fish Pyramid, but never quite got around to it.  I think the ladders intimidated me a little.

Where are you from in No. Cal.?  I live in Cool and fish the delta all the time.  Clear Lake is also one of my favorites.  I seem to be gushing, but there are so few of us from No. Cal. that it gets lonely on here.  You'll find that we don't get much respect and get picked on quite a bit.  Many of the guys on here spend most of their time fixing their truck or brushing their tooth.  Just be careful.

Hey since I've owned Tundras I've never fixed a truck.

Those Do-It casting spoons are deadly anywhere.  Interesting colors.  Here we imitate shad ( heavy on the white pearl ) or a chartreuse for cloudy days.   Welcome aboard - nice trout.

That is too funny, I knew by posting I was from Ca I would be putting a mark on my reputation right from the get go.  To answer your question, I live in Lincoln just down the road from you.

Here is one of the better striper I landed this year. Trolling Yozuri crystal minnows with my own handpoured trailer worms attached to the back hook.

You can say that again. I love and never leave home with out them.
Here is a color that works well for us on lakes like Oroville. It's loaded with pond smelt.

I did a glow on theses with diamond dust.

The belly boat brings back memories.

Other than draw tournaments, I pretty much relied on a float tube while I was stationed in that area - it was the only "boat" I could keep on base (in the back of my ranger) and I didn't need to drive to a launch to get out on the water.  Four years, two float tubes, two sets of waders and countless bass... yeah, there are some memories there for me as well. (sigh)

Don't listen to Denny, being from northern CA is only one of the many reasons we pick on him.
Welcome aboard!  Great looking casting spoons and fish.

It's a little after 4:00 AM here and I just read Justin's post.  Almost spit my coffee up.

Especially rich, anti-goat people. I liked the piece of welding rod super glued between those front ones at the get-together. Nice idea for a bridge Mo.

Thanks for the warm welcome you guys. I hope I can contribute as much as I've learned already by reading the past reports and threads. I would really like to try my hand at painting my trailer worms for the striper. Anyone willing to share the type of paint I'm gonna need? Or a link maybe?
