Title: Lee Lead Pot - did I just lose a heating element?
Post by: sim on 02/22/14 15:34 UTC
So, went out today to clean the shop a bit - decided I'd pour up a few spnnerbaits - turned the pot on.

about 20 minutes later - the pour spout "popped" loose and lead was dripping/flowing - but the top of the lead in the pot was still solid.

put a ingo mold underneath to catch the drip (now free flowing) until it stopped - unscreweed the handle and was able to lift out the 'spout thingy' with about an 1" thick round ring of lead still solid and 'cold'.

are these things repariable or just junk and replace?

They sell most of the parts for them.
But never had one apart. So let us know how it goes.

Parts are readily available did read somewhere that Lee would recondition for a nominal fee or something like that, it's been awhile but I did buy a new liner and rod and they were like $5 or so.

Is it a Lee Pot IV, or Lee Pot 4-20?
