Title: 2nd pouring session Saturday
Post by: Fatman on 03/09/14 11:19 UTC
Well got em poured and got all the sprues off, just have to clean them up now.

Poured 50 redman with #4 Black chrome sickles, 200 1/16th ball no-collar with #4 Black chrome sickles, 100 1/16th horseheads with #4 Black chrome sickles, and 65 1/32nd football heads with #6 Black chrome sickles. Probably could have poured a whole lot more if it hadn't taken 3 hrs and 15 mins just to get the 65 football heads, I melted more off the hooks for being bad than what I ended up with.

You are lucky. I had an ice cream pail full of 1/32 heads that needed to be trimmed of sprues. I decided that I should do this watching tv in the evening. As I trimmed, theheads went into another bucket and the sprues went to a coffee can. I was carrying the ice cream pail full of trimmed heads out to the garage when the metal handle pulled out of the pail. Carpet, jigheads, a mad woman....well you get the picture.

OMG!!!!! Ctom, that is funny and it is funny because I had something similar happen! I too decided to do some filing of the sprue while watching T.V. , it wasn't a lot, 50 heads or so and a quick 3 strokes with the file and all was good. Well I take the 1/16oz walleye jigs in a small plastic container and set it down as I laid out a towel for the shavings to go in, I dump the heads out onto the towel and as I file I put them back in to the container. I finish up and before I move the container I decide to fold up the towel so the lead shavings don't get dumped, well they didn't but when I picked up the towel, it just so happens the edge of the container was sitting on top of the corner of the towel and it flew and jigs went everywhere. Now I have have my wife go in the kitchen and make sure the cats don't come out as I pick all the heads up and I'm counting as not to miss any and you know, fish throw hooks pretty easy at times but carpet, well it took me quite some time to get them up and neither my wife, or my cats were too happy, in fact I'm not allowed to even walk in the living room with jigs anymore.
