I'd mentioned awhile back, using the Swim Toad as a Twin Tail Grub-type of Craw Imitation. Plenty folks use Twin Tailed Grubs to imitate a Craw, with widespread success (very popular, and popular for a reason). A running Craw has a pretty wide profile, which the Toad accomodates much better than most Grubs. The Toad also has the hook-slots on top AND bottom, which we all know is extremely favorable. One unspoken aspect of the Toad...when it's bagged, the Claws/Feet lay naturally "in-line" with the wide proportion of the Body, so it has a better tendency to stay flat and retain more of its intended shape, and not twist in the bag like some bait designs.
DF Bro, You did a Fign Job here. I dig the antennae!
This bait is the Speed Craw everyone's looking for. It might not thump quite as hard, but does it need to rattle the bottom of the boat?

Antennas, just for looks, Its been a long winter and I only have a couple of molds so I'm trying to make the most of them. :)

I like I like

Antennas ? Seriously ? Dude you need to go fishing. You got way to much time on your hands. :P

Tell me about it man, I've had a few days off and its still winter here in Michigan so no fishing for me. My wife is tired of looking at my face so I have been hiding in the shop.

DF, I'm in SW Mississippi, and I've been hiding in my shop too. That's where it's happening! Nothin' wrong wit Mad Scientist time in the ManCave. And that Crochet Craw is gonna catch dem Grandmaws!
-
Thanks BK, I love playing mad scientist with these baits. Spending extra time on a bait that could get torn up in one cast may be a waste, but hey, Its fun and if it gets us talking its worth it.

I like those DF. Those will catch fish for sure. I dig where you're going with the antennae. You could even dye that braid with spike-it if you want.
I used to hand pour craws with silicone legs. I haven't made them in a long time, but I still have the POP molds. I made hand pour molds of Yum's craw papi. I laid a silicone skirt tab cross ways in the mold to create legs, then poured the bait. They were pretty sweet. They work great for Carolina rigging. Maybe I'll make a batch this spring. Thanks for the inspiration.------Tim.
